749R - remap or powercommander?

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by testingtesting, Aug 1, 2013.

  1. Well a little dyno run today showed that my 749R has very shitty fueling:biggrin:

It feels nice to ride but I thought it might not be great as it 'comes on' strong at around 8Krpm, the air/fuel ratio was lean most of the way through going near 14.5:1 from 8000rpm onwards, big shitty hole 5-7ish.

What's the best way to sort it?

  2. cjs remap...........not even worth considering anything else!

  3. torquetune dyno centre....

  4. Without sounding blunt, why remap and why them? Also wondering how much better my 'new to me' 57mm leo vince system will be?

Some in the know still think a powercommander is the best route?

  5. Yes, only 35mins away and he always squeezes me in for not much cash :) He has got a uphill dyno though, you don't get pub numbers out of it....

    mapped 916 standard 103bhp
    996S with full 50mm system 114bhp
848 with full Akrapovic system 127bhp
    zx10r with Arata system 143bhp

  6. what was the 749r

  7. remap because the access and adjustability of the std ecu is far greater than a pc3 you can do separate cylinders on the std ecu you can do ignition too

why CJS because he is at the forefront of this access and there are many success stories on here...........

  8. You can map individual cylinders on the PCR also, however you can't do ignition. It was on the 749R. Have you used torque tune before?

  9. Looks like pressed rear brake to slow down - thought that was a big no no from memory

  10. Second CJS, Chris knows what he is doing as does Rich and the team (based in the same workshop). They build a lot of race bikes and as said above Chirs is at the forefront of tuning Duc's. I've had two bikes remapped by him and PC's else where, the Ducati ECU is far more flexible. For me it was my chosen approach over ditching my Nemisis ECU kit.

My 749s with 57mm 2-1-2 system with custom map and rev limit

Worth every penny and he often will do you a good deal.

  11. Moved to Superbike

  12. with that one sniffer pipe up your exhaust looks like you AFR is combined atm.....

  13. How do you go about getting such a deal!? :)

  14. Drop Chris a line and have a chat, mention that you have been recommended to him and I'm sure he'll give you his best price.

  15. Before you get anything done, I'd suggest getting the bike setup properly in stock trim. TPS reset, balance and get the base mixtures set. Without that, whether its done with PC, remap etc. you're just masking over any bad set up that may be present.

  16. It its properly set-up, Its just had a full going over/service/setup at G-tech.

  17. I can second the above, CJS is the way to go. A power commander does not have anything like the flexibility of an ECU, it has far less steps that you can adjust the mixture to. He chipped my 748R which is in a 748S frame and uses stock injectors. He set mine up from scratch, TPS, throttle balance etc. plus he did each cylinder and set a rev limit on the chip for the ECU, which when using it for trackdays is useful to me. Worth every penny.

  18. That'll be fine then :upyeah:I'd go down the remap route. CJS is your man
