I filled up a mile from home after leaving work. It was running fine when I got there, but when I wanted to leave, it just conked out. Probably alternator or Reg/Rec as the battery isnt charging getting only 11ish watts through. Pain in the arse. Another call to the flippin AA. Bollox, Bike back in the garage and I'm back in the car again

ps I know the bike is filthy, very poor show

  2. I feel for you. hope its not to expensive dude.

  3. Bad luck Matt.
Some wiring got shaken loose in the recent tumble perhaps?

  4. Perhaps its just on strike until cleaned?

It is also August so while the rest of Italy has shut down maybe your bike wants a piece of that action :)

  6.:mad: - Thanks guys, hopefully i'll have it back soon enough. Im really hoping its just a f-ed battery

  7. Feel your pain also. Both my Dukes off the road at the mo, right in the middle of the biking season. Well piss*d off!

  8. I will say that on the 3 mile walk back home from the dealers yesterday I was thinking about Ducatis PCP plan. I love this bike, I really do, but sometimes all the hassle of a slightly older bike, its only an 08 FFS, makes me thing that a new bike every three years is a far less stressful option

  9. Still doesn't bode well though does it, like you've said, it an 08 FFS.

I can't see many Kwaks, Hondas etc breaking down much at that age and before we get in to the 'soul' etc of a Ducati I thought all this irratic behaviour and reliability issue was behind them.

is it even high mileage mate?

  10. just passed 10k

  11. See in the days of old people would see that high mileage for a ducati but nowadays I'm not so sure?

oh well, hopefully its not an expensive fix, shouldn't be should it? Or are rectifiers pricey?

  12. That's just 2k miles per annum. Bugger all IMO.

  13. I feel for you Bro. There's always the option of a rice burner, but could you ? Look on the bright side, you have something to look forward to - getting her back on the road !

  14. After trashing my 999 main bearings on the track I'm beginning to wonder the same.

I have heard someone (who knows his stuff) say that the new highpower Duc engines will need a complete 7 engine + piston rod bearings overhaul at about 30.000 km's if they have been used for 'inspired' driving regularly.

  15. Thats rough matt, you sound like you're rippin' and ready to fookin kill someone...Hope its just the batt. Would make sense.

BTW, that bike is filthy, shame on you

  17. PS.

    PIA for sure.
If it's the batt/reg it's worth considering voltage drop warning bulb jobbies.

Hope it's an easy cheap fix.

  18. Moved to fucked bike section

  19. seems from the feedback I get from other bikers is, everyone loves ducatis but would never have one, previous to my duke, 4 sportsbikes over 20 years, 4 year old gixer, 2 new blades, 1 new R1 , never any faults with any, no money spent only on tyres, really love my 996 but I think ive learnt that ducatis are an enthusiasts bike with deep pockets.

    hope its something simple matt

  20. Hey, you sold me that screen  Just got call and its the reg/rec. Sorted for £100 and should be ready by the end of the week, just in time for some catch up riding :upyeah:
