Hello and can I apologise for posting a non Ducati question but I'm struggling to find out some info on the above oil strainer. Basically I'm trying to replace a fuel tank pickup strainer on a car that are no longer available. The plastic part of the oil strainer for a 748, 916 etc looks almost identical to the original part on the car, however I'm a bit reluctant to pay £65 for one unless I know I can make it fit. Does anyone have an old damaged oil strainer they wouldn't mind trying to remove the plastic part from the metal and measuring. In the application I'm trying to use it, the plastic filter would need to push fit on to a 15mm outside diameter metal pipe. If the plastic of the Ducati filter is a bigger outside diameter that is fine as we can always make an adapter to space it down but can't go bigger very easily. Hope someone may be able to help.
Thanks for the welcomes. Despite not currently owning a Ducati I do have a bike license and money permitting will likely own a Ducati when I have a slightly less busy life. The cars I work on are Italian cars so it's possible the parts have abit of a crossover.
I suspect it may be the oil drain bung. This is alink for the part: https://www.corsasbk.com/product/066049800/?v=79cba1185463 Usually people would probably just clean it and refit but once it's damaged it would need to be replaced. I don't mind buying new ones for the car I'm working on if I know I can mke them fit.
I don't think that's the oil drain, they're magnetic iirc, but been a while since I had one out , looks more like an oil feed pipe pick up banjo connector? Let me look at one of mine but I'm sure someone else will be along , might be worth a cross post into the bike specific threads I think 749/999 will be the same as well
On the 916 series you find that strainer in the crankcase below the clutch cover. I have one in the garage. I will measure the plastic part later today
