Proof that James May is the best thing on Television

  1. He certainly is one of the funniest :upyeah:

  2. the guy is a legend

  3. Best out of the three of them, thats for sure.

  4. There is a lot more to May than the floppy haired buffoon persona that he portrays on Top Gear. Any motoring journalist that can use the phrase "my good friend LJK Setright told me..." deserves respect ( L. J. K. Setright - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ).

  5. Agreed, May seems a very genuine and interesting presenter.

I met LJK once on Surbiton High Street and as an avid reader of Car Magazine I was somewhat in awe. I did get to shake the man's hand after a brief greeting was exchanged:

Me: "You wouldn't be LJK Setright would you by any chance?"

LJK: "Not 'by any chance' - for I am indeed he..."

He seemed genuinely pleased to be recognised, although the dear-stalker and cane made it a safe guess :)

  6. Jeremy Clarkson introducing Lewis Hamilton on Top Gear:

"Some say he's the best British driver since Nigel Mansell and that his aggresive driving style has taken the F1 world by storm...All we know is, he's called The Nigg."

  7.

  8. james may indeed does indeed seem to quite motorcycle orientated
so why on a car show ? who cares have to admit topgear must be the best comedy show the bbc have :upyeah:

  9. I too met LJKS back in the day, and was fortunate enough to discuss some of his wonderful books with him. A great man. His writing style is sadly out of fashion these days.

  10. id like to smash his face in..he has a net worth of over £15 million...why? for being a professional bell end..

i do it just for the love of it.

  11. oh christ ive just followed the link..he's with that other private school cock shiner, Oz Clark...peerrrllleeessseee..

  12. how can you argue that these two arent a pair of bell ends..to his credit, May does look self conscious, embarrassed and slightly humiliated, but then again, i may just be giving him too much credit.

is it possible to make a crossbow from meccano?

  13. May was the former editor of Autocar I think. He was already a well established Motoring Journo well before Top Gear came knocking. £15M well done that man which would just about covers Clarkson's tax bill

  14. May came to top gear just before it was axed too. I like him, seems pretty intelligent and does what he likes. Fair play to him.

  15. as mush as i think he's a twat, he's far more tolerable than that insufferable, affected twat Richard Hammond, or as Hammond himself would say, 'That innnnnnnsuffferabbbel, affected twat' (cue blank look to camera with slight raising of the corner of mouth and eyebrow)...

    cheesier than a tramps helmet.

  16. I like him, and met him once. He is incredibly knowledgeable about anything mechanical, unlike the tiny twat on Top Gear!
