Mine was looking tired and there not the original fixings. I found the easiest way to get these cleaned up was simply fitting them into the end of the drill and spinning them up into a microfibre cloth with some maguires metal polish. Then polish with a clean microfibre cloth. Quite time consuming but saves some money and brightens it up until get some originals to replace.
If you remove the D ring with pliers and put the fastening in a drill a spin it up on a rag with metal polish they’ll come up.
There isn’t some weird combination of household products like Marmite and toothpaste that someone discovered?
To get them proper mint, they’d have to be re plated. Not worth it for that small quantity. It costs the same to re plate a full bike’s worth of nuts and bolts as a few fasteners
Good ole trusty autosol works well. I will say this though, the gold does come off and it’s goes very bling….
Problem with Autosol is that while it’s good on bare alloy / metals, it’ll pull all the gold passivate off with just one rub over them.
Yea I agree it does do that. It’s kind of half way solution if you didn’t wanna purchase new fasteners. Not quite the standard look but cleaner. If honest I’d prefer the new dull gold effect but was quoted around £250 for new genuine fixings on the fairings and screen.
