Is there anything more gratuitous than football transfers

  1. The preening, diving footballers get £100,000's per week whilst only 6 riders in BSB are paid ANY salary by their team. At Oulton Park last month over 40,000 of us paid to watch these guys go out and lay it on the line for our entertainment, why should they have to do it for free?

  5. Really interesting article. I see that the firm I used to work for makes more profit in a year than the whole of the Prem turns over. And the fact that the whole Prem produces a paltry £98m of profit in a year - truly pathetic. Let's face it, it's not a business opportunity. The only people who do well out of it are the players and their agents. Amazing that it should come to this.

  6. Last season we had a corporate box at Bolton United. I cant begin to tell you how much I hated having to go and watch feetball, I did take advantage of the booze as I felt I had to just to help me get through watching Manchester Rovers. The longest 90 minutes of my life that I'll never get back.

  7. I saw the opera Britten's Peter Grimes at Sydney Opera House once. It was stultifyingly tedious. So after the first half at the interval I asked myself, would I be happier seeing the second half, albeit in Sydney Opera House, or would I be happier in a bar? It was a simple decision so I didn't go back.

  8. My team have also failed to score a goal in 270 mins!!! That is not the reason why I am disillusioned with football. I feel that the preferences of the (local) fans have been overtaken by the contractual obligations clubs have to (global) TV contracts. I do not want to watch anyone who is paid >£x,000 per week play football. So I have decided not to any more. I would rather spend quailty time on my Diavel.

  10. Football transfers always irritated me.............

    I guess I was allergic to something in the glue and they were a sod to wash off.........

    Now.....the Batman ones were brilliant.........
