I dont tend to click on links in posts .....Hmmm 4 deaths bummer cant find stats for here but I haven't heard of any.
Loch Ness Etape was great fun, the climb after Fort Augustus was not as difficult as I imagined. Well organised and everyone very friendly, especially the marshals.
Definitely depends on your recording device, I rode with three friends. 4,037 ft Apple Watch 3,850 ft Garmin 3,537 ft Garmin 820 3,967 ft Garmin 1030 plus same ride.
Well done - it's all in the head. In previous years I've found the climb to be pretty difficult, but found motivation, legs and lungs to just keep going. Unfortunately this year I had to cancel - I did a 125km training run last weekend, then promptly caught a cold/flu thing that pretty much knocked me flat this week and to try and do the etape in that state would have been silly :-(
Good decision. The wind was behind us going up the hill, I’m sure if it had been a headwind it would have been very different.
Oh, to be in England now that April's there.... A rather lovely 50 mile loop today, shorts and short sleeves for the first time this year. Just getting ready to leave home…
Yes, I read on another forum he had a seizure and veered into a car. It was close to the time we finished and near the hub. very sad
I got out before 0700 this morning, partly to beat the heat but also to avoid complaints from SWMBO. Only rode 13 miles, I was back before 0800 and took her out for breakfast. Tomorrow will be a bit cooler so will try and get a 30 miler done before lunch.
