Oberon Clutch Slave Cylinder

  1. A couple of questions regarding the clutch slave cylinder on my 2002 Monster 750ie.

Is the Oberon CLU-0116 clutch slave cylinder the correct one for my bike? Their website doesn’t list the 750ie but does list the 620ie and the original Ducati part number is the same for both bikes.

Will fitting one to my bike lighten the action of the clutch lever? My tennis elbow has started to flare up again and fitting an Oberon clutch slave cylinder to my 848 years ago made a huge difference.

    Many thanks

  2. I put an Oberon CLU-0116 on my 1994 M900 with no issues, the ad said they good for most bikes up till 2018.
I didn't notice much of a decrease in effort but others swear by it. Stock my clutch was easy to pull, I wonder if my springs are on the weak side.

  3. if in doubt you can call them, double helpful

  4. I ordered one last night same serial number for my 748 if it can make even a 10% difference I will be happy as my wrists are not good, snapped tendon right wrist a year ago.

  5. Made a huge difference on my 916

  6. Get an alloy coloured one as the anodising is shit....and no they dont care (as i told them)

  7. I've had issues with the tendons of my left hand for a number of years. The best thing I did was to change to clutchless gear shifting. Changing up is easy. Changing down takes a little more practice. Except when moving off or coming to a stop I seldom use the clutch now.

  8. I did start changing up without clutch but not down.
I did see another one on ebay by "duc or die", and others. I did find something regarding the diameter and how much the piston moves, I think you get problems when piston get too big - will try and find it out. - found it see below thanks Shazaam.

  9. I can’t see myself ever having another guided ultrasound steroid injection again anywhere near a tendon 9 days later you could hear it go ping, turned down having my left done and consultant looks at me strangely as to why :scream:
    Oberon to the rescue :D:motorcycleduc:

  10. Why not try removing two of the clurch springs, will definately lighten the clutch lever and supposedly doesn't cause slipping issues. If it doesn't work or slips just put it all back. Very quick to do for zero cost and still leaves the replacement option if you want to later.

  11. despite the above chart, we need to look at the actual details - The Oberon clutch slave piston diameter is 29mm and i believe your 750ie clutch slave diameter will be 25 or 26mm diameter, so the Oberon will reduce effort at the handlebar but don't forget the trade-off is longer travel of the clutch lever, which, with some users with hand and wrist problems, can present a whole new problem in itself. It also means you are relying on the hydraulic system to be adjusted correctly and in tip-top condition (air bled etc) as you tend to need all of the hand lever travel available compared to std, and with a wet clutch you already have to deal with more "drag" than a dry one.

  12. I tried that and it was a bit easier. I "thought" I felt it slip a bit - could have been wrong, but it got in my head and I put the springs back. May be it depends on the condidition of your clutch plates, but worth a try for nothing as Hughdg says.
