If the Pikes Peak was leading 4 other bikes, a couple of GSs, a Thunderace and a Firestorm, then that was us.
Not faster yet, needs to be run in as it had a top end rebuild close to his trip to Japan and to assist with that it has it's power blade disconnected so can't hit anything much higher than 65. But he can mostly just ride it without too much slowing down. Not louder, just a deeper less scratchy sound than his previous system, sounds better for it IMO. He's trying to work out whether to keep it and buy an A2 bike {inherit my GasGas700} when he passes his test or buy a Husqvarna 450 SM. He doesn't rate heavy bikes as being particularly nice to ride, he certainly wouldn't buy anything much bigger than a 750. Fitted new rear brake pads to it today as they were getting low.
Drained the coolant out of my 749 the other day and noted that it was fluorescent green colour. I realise that it is likely IAT type coolant and shouldn’t be mixed with pink/orange OAT coolant. Tried to get some green IAT coolant at Halfords…nah, don’t do it mate. I know I can flush out the system but would rather just get some green IAT stuff. Anybody know where I can buy some from and what make? Ta.
Halfords do a universal one that be used with both types. But better still, just type in motor factor on google maps and it will show you local places. Any should do that stuff.
New brake fluid for front and rear brakes, looks lovely in the reservoirs compared to the Lucozade coloured fluid that was there. Must be at least 50% better braking, based on no scientific backing at all. It just feels safe when done!
Swapped the warning lights on the 750ss for LED ones. Unfortunately you can’t do the indicator one (unless you only turn left) but others are done and it’s a massive improvement. Previously I couldn’t see them in normal daylight, let alone on a bright day.
Can’t remember fully as it was a long time ago. I also replaced my instrument bulbs with easier to see LEDs I bought a kit that had a resistor or may be a diode in the wiring, that enabled both flashers. It was a small amount of wiring included for not much cost. Ask on the forum. There are some eleccy wizards on here!
One final ride on the Monkey to the dealers. Tidied up the space in the garage where it used to live.
