Hello to everyone, I'm a long time Ducati MV Agusta lover. Prrevious bikes are a 996S and MV Agusta F4100S I'm currently living in France about 50 miles from Paris after many years living between London and Tunisia where I was working. Due to work and not having a garage in London I made the tough decision to sell my last bike MV Agusta F4100S 2007 model a couple of years ago. I bought it when I was living in Southern France and road it of the twisty roads behind Cannes and Nice for about 10 years. I then moved bought a house in London and hardly used it as it was garaged with my sister due to bike crime in London. Here's my question, I've now got a garage and decent roads to ride a bike, (though maybe not the greatest weather). I'm looking at the Ducati Streetfighter V2 and currently have the otion of a 2024 pre-registered Streetfighter V2 955 or a new 2025 V2S spec. Which bike would you all reccomend? Is it worth getting the the 2025 S spec with the Ohlins upgrades etc. but losing 30hp or going for the 2024 bike with standard spec but 155hp? I've not been riding for a few years and personally think (initially anyway) 120bhp would be more than enough power for me. Both biles are a simialr price?
You won't notice the bhp difference unless doing trackdays. So take the bhp out of the equation and decide. I would prefer a better suspension above more bhp.
Welcome, quite new here myself too - Echoing 996 above, no one really needs more than 100-120bhp on the road... Tha's still a very quick bike. I'd take creamy Øhlins any day over 30BHP for the bling factor alone
Same as above forget the extra bhp there’s plenty at hand, instead concentrate on the suspension Welcome btw.
Go for the Ohlins bike. Unless you’ve got a neck and arms like Arnie, you won’t be able to use a 155bhp naked bike to it’s maximum potential on the road anyway.
I'd take the S spec, both for the better suspension and i'd hope the S has better residual value if/when you decide to sell. I have a MV Brutale 150bhp claimed and to be honest it's virtually unusable on the UK chite road surfaces. Much prefer my Supermoto for the riding and the MV for show.
Thanks everyone, I was leaning towards the 2025 V2S and you've all confirmed this. Very much appreciated. TBH my 996 was a little less than 120bhp and was stilla rocket, My MV was around 155bhp and needed a very gentle throttle at all times
Hi, I would go for the 955 and get the suspension upgraded to suit your weight and style of riding. You will notice the power difference to a greater or lesser extent (depends on you, lol) The issue with OEM Ohlins, in my experience, is they are not quite as good as aftermarket ones, think OEM tyres. And very unlikely to be sprung for your weight so probably need re-springing anyway. imho the new Sf doesnt look quite as good or "meaty" That exhaust routing is not the best either? Note how the 2.5K race one sorts it. Kindest Regards <donning my tin hat>
