whose that with? mines due in june and i feel im getting shafted already, price comparison websites vary widely, bemoto and bennets did FA again except put it up from last year i have been told price comparison websites store your date so naturally put your prices up year on year, clearing all data and starting afresh can help (which i did and it didn't)
My Panigale is insured on my other policy which has 3yr NCD, the renewal has gone from £200 to £410, so it’s now off the road until I can either get a better quote or roll it into my triumph policy
899 Located in south east 1 year no claims (edit: i had close to 10 years no claims on a previous policy so i dont know if that effects the renewal premium) 50 years young (just!)
I’ve had mixed experiences with insurance over the years, but Lucky Penny Insurance has been solid for me. Their rates were reasonable, and they actually picked up the phone when I had questions, which seems rare these days.
I just had a renewal invitation from Performance Direct. The premium had dropped from £261 to £239. I was initially happy with that, but the excess had increased from £350 to £600, so I had a look at Confused.com. Ended up switching through them to Devitt with a premium of £129 (admittedly with no legal fee cover; could have added it for £40), but still with a £600 excess.
I just insured my new to me Desert X and got a quote from Bennetts directly at £728 (Gulp). However, when I went through ComparetheMarket the quote from Bennetts for exactly the same policy was a much more reasonable £470. Talking to mates this turns out to be quite common that it is cheaper through a comparison site than going direct.
I'm not sure but I think there is a cooling off period with online purchases (within 10 days or something). If you’ve just taken out a policy then found much cheaper, I think you can cancel and swap over. Might be worth checking out. Good luck
so get this i live in south london but keep my bike (899) down my mums on the coast, i go down a lot so its suits me, current renewal £288 i never ride in london and have no interest, the riding on the coast is so much better munching over getting a newer V2 pani, on compare sites i put the address where i 'store the bike' at my mums, and keep my london address. insurance comes back £1400 plus, when i change my HOME address to my mums it comes back £400 plus any ideas, whats there idea of "where i live"
Standard clause, I believe it's assumed the different address is a lock up, no live in presence. I've heard of a pukka secure facility with 24 hour security falling into the same category. Risk averse underwriters. Andy
As I said, possibly earlier in this thread - great price from Howden for the SS, but it's classed as a classic. I tried to get the 999 added to the policy this year, but they won't insure it, because it's not old enough for the classic policy, unless I keep it where I live. The SS is three years older, so I can keep it where I like. There's nowhere secure to keep it around here, but where I do is pretty secure, but that makes no nevermind. Footman James, who I was with before I got the SS, but Howden were about £200 cheaper, do class the 999 as classic. As I recall, with Howden it begins at 25 years (or maybe 24, since the SS is from 2000). With F-J it's 15 years. And a year ago Howden insured it so maybe it was 23 years. And they told me that this Spring I would be able to insure both on the same policy, which now they won't. It's arbitrary and you can't reason with them any more than you can with a Terminator.
Shop around to start with then negotiate every year or you'll be ripped off even more than you are already.
Wicked Quotes .. Covers Panigale R, 916 and Vespa 300 GTS Last years annualised premium with Aviva £276.01 This years premium with Aviva £198.75
Get a tracker insurance goes down, advanced motorcyclist like IAM roadsmart helps 5% off. Garage & ground anchor also
@Todders suggested Footman James. Just got a quote for the 996 SPS, MV F4 & MHR insured for £576, £100 excess with “agreed value” & “nil deduction salvage”. NO NCD required. Seems pretty competitive.
so how do i 'move' to my mums, change a bank account address? driving licence? if its saves me one a grand
I had my Africa Twin stolen from LHR two weeks ago. The “validation team” dug deep regarding addresses, license checks for penalties and endorsements and still haven’t confirmed any compensation. I would be a little hesitant at presenting a different version of your circumstances, they are trying to find any excuse not to pay….. Ageas.
