Tbf, Ben Shalom looks as if he’d be blown over by a strong gust of wind and would definitely start crying for his mum if Hearn landed one on him. Speaking of Shalom, did you see Whittaker v Cameron 2 last weekend? Whittaker did a professional job on him and hopefully that, ahem, “draw” in the first fight has knocked some of the cockiness out of him. I was supposed to be going to the Benn v Eubank fight with my sons tomorrow, but one is abroad playing football and I can’t leave Iggy alone after his recent medical emergency, so we’ve had to sack it off.
Ahh bugger, life gets in the way of stuff eh? Hope Igster’s on the mend? * I really hope Eubank leathers him but he did look decidedly skinny at the weigh in Lad needs pie and chips in sharp order…
I see Eubank failed to make the weight and initially came in late at 160.2 lbs and then an hour later, after another pooh & wee and cutting his toe nails, at 160.05. He got fined £300k.
A bit of a bummer missing the fight... but hey, Iggy has got to be your priority. As for Whittaker, yes it was better from him, but not the toughest opponent and he just can't stop himself being a cock can he?
Hope Conor Benn lands the biggest jaw spinner ever and they both get some peace afterwards. My money says otherwise.
The right man got his hand raised, thankfully. If he has any sense, he will stay away from rehydration clauses and the likes in future !
Absolutely. Good that Eubank stayed strong over the 12. Bet he went for a massive curry after that! He didn’t look strong at his failed weigh in. Must have been gutted. As you say, he’ll stay away from the starvation nonsense going forward.
Not that easy to call.... you'd immediately think Dubois doesn't have a chance. But he's got his tail up after demolishing Joshua and he's got experience against Usyk. Plus Dubois believes it's his destiny. If he's going to do it it's gotta be in the early rounds. Gotta respect Usyk for offering the fight. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/articles/c5ygvve1108o
Dubois’ no joke. And Usyk knows it. Had he not had the ref onside in their last fight, he’d have lost. But yeah, should be a good fight.
I must admit I didn't remember this fight & oh good lord... I've only just read about it's aftermath. A reminder that boxing is a tough tough business and Benn's quote pretty much summed it up... "You know what? This is what you wanted to see. You got what you wanted to see."
Brilliant fight. The Americans thought he was gonna beat benn up. Tragic outcome but Nigel benn at his best
Yeah... never really been a fan of Benn but man he showed, along with McClellan, some courage in that fight. As you say it's what Benn does and has probably never done it better. And although it was a couple of years before it does put Eubank's performance(s) against him in perspective.
A couple of heavy weight Brits that shows how boxing has changed. Cooper's old school bout looked like two men having a 'fight' and Lennox looked sharp & mean.
Well that was some left hook that finished Dubois last night. Usyk’s doing okay for a ‘blown up middleweight’ as Fury called him And tbf Fury has a point. Which makes it worse!
Just seen 2 mins of highlights but a couple of weeks back I did watch his first bout against Dubois - and Usyk was quality. His footwork & balance is fantastic and when combined with speed of movement and ring craft it makes him the peerless fighter he now appears to be. I reckon only he can beat himself. It looked like he started with pace and obviously wanted to make his mark early & get the job done quick. Dubois is a little slow and ponderous at the best of times and was just overwhelmed by it all. And yeah, it was also the left that done for Fury, and by the looks of it Usyk was tagging him with it all night. He knows how to circle/turn his man and create the opening. Interesting factoid - Usyk is the same height & weight as Ali.
