  1. Anyone else find their garage is like an oven in the summer? Mine has a flat roof which doesn’t help I think. I ended up working just in shorts this morning and was still sweating like a pig. I don’t like working with the garage door open as we are next to a nature reserve and loads of people walk past. Door on the other end goes to a utility so not much air flow.

I am wondering what options there are and have thought about a bathroom type extractor fan but there must be better options out there. Also wondered if insulating the roof would make any difference but not sure it would really.

  2. I simply fitted the ceiling fan, it helps when hot and also helps to dry off the bike when wet.

  3. Yes, a ceiling fan will work wonders, get the air moving and it will feel cooler, although not on thermometer! Large slow blades the way to go.

  4. Larger the better.

  5. A 20 inch turbo fan -about £50- (metal frame) will take care of this. And since you can move it about you are always in the breeze.

  6. My black garage door certainly doesn’t help. On really hot days, I crack it open 6" or so.

  7. Won't it open any more than that?

  8. I have a couple of velux windows and an opening window onto the garden- get a lovely breeze through.

  10. That’s the same here, nice area but right next to a nature reserve with loads of passers by. Lad opposite had his bike nicked last year, although he did keep it locked up on the drive, not in the garage. I work on the grounds prevention is better than cure. I never leave the bikes on show a minute longer than I need to.
