Featured Wiring Looms

  1. Hello lovely people. I have the good fortune to have OCD when it comes to wiring looms. I specialise in replicating Bevel and Pantah engined bike harnesses using my 40 years of electronics experience, 14 years as an RAF radar tech and 10 years doing custom and one off motorcycle looms. If you're in the market for a high quality harness give me a shout. I have the following looms:

    750 SS/GT <'75
    900SS/Mike Hailwood Replica '78-'80
    900 Darmah
    Pantah 500/600/650
    750 F1/Montjuic/Santamonica.
    748/916/996 Race/Track Day front loom to remove left bar switch/speedo/warning light and Ignition Switch.

    I am looking for complete looms for other models in this range, so If you need a harness, and it is not listed, please get in touch to see if I can help.

  4. It should be, some of them are pretty cheaply put together. UK manufactured wire, OE connectors and all splices crimped and sealed with adhesive lined heatshrink.

  5. Oooh wish I still lived in the UK sometimes, 58 Million 68 Million people is a much bigger market than 5.5M to allow people like you to thrive, and would save me the grief of having to do it myself!!

    Now I have the pleasure of hooking up this lot and makeing them speak to each other:

    But, at least I have just received a nice package of goodies from vehiclewiringproducts, that may assist:
    Bear with me, having issues all the time with "image too large"..... I see this forum software has a bit of catching up to do

    You'll just have to imagine a picture of cables, sleeves, heat shrink kits, connector block kits, spade & terminal kits and crimping tools etc...

  8. Nah can’t be arsed if you have to jump through hoops to display a simple cut & paste image there’s something wrong with the software, most forums have moved on from html…
     
  9. I’m not certain but I believe he means a how to build your loom, could be mistaken though the Wife says I am so wouldn’t be a shock.

  11. HAHAHA my sincere apologies, I was so hacked off with what shoulda been a simple task uploading an image it clouded my sanity!!
    Cheers, but I'm pretty sure I'll manage, I've done a fair bit of wiring before hence I took the plunge to DIY, just that if you'd been near me I'd much rather a pro do it properly. However if you're writing a book lemme know, I love reading about stuff anyway!! I have a copy of Ru Paul's wiring as well...
    It's not a full rewire more an integration of new things like electronic cockpit & sensors new RR & LiFePo batt, new Ignitech & TPS etc, a little bit of faffing but nothing crazy, so I'm sure I'll be fine :)
     
  12. Thanks, Yep already have a copy of that manual cheers :) Certainly would appreciated a draft and can give you some feedback too if you like?
    Rupe's book is not too bad, not much I don't really already know but still a not bad read and picked up a tip or two.
    One thing I didn't like tho was, imho, a wee bit too much soldering of crimps which kinda defeats the purpose of crimping. Soldering has it's place, and I'm quite happy soldering wires together to extend / shorten / join where neccessary provided they are heat shrunk & well supported / isolated from vibration, but I'm not a fan of soldering a crimp...
     
  13. Mm you only solder crimps if you don’t crimp correctly. Have to say I cringed when he used a lighter on heat shrink in a video on his site. Having had a couple of bike with his handy work through my hands to “tidy up”, I’ll keep my opinions to my self but needless to say the RAF taught me to do things a lot differently. I do solder stuff, but only when it is impossible to crimp or use solder sleeves and to add pigtails to sensors.

  14. Yeah I'll never understand folks using a lighter or a soldering iron to heat shrink
    Get a heat gun, they are so handy for so much more as well, and not expensive!

  17. Spot on, especially telling if you are doing the job professionally you need the right tools. The fact that he solders crimps tells me hasn’t got the right crimping tools for the connectors he’s using.

  19. That would be very naughty of me...
    However much we may disagree with soldering of crimps etc. he's made the effort to write the book, which I duly paid for; so to share that onwards would be copyright infringement and downright ungentlemanly of me, besides it's only 20 squids...
