  4. I'd say it's low, but maybe due to his personal circumstances it's more a fire sale than a true reflection of the real market value.

A good price for an interested buyer, luckily i'm in no position to buy it or i'd be tempted to flip it.

  5. we're dooomed, all doooomed i tell you.. even 10 years ago i'd have ripped the seller's arm off.:neutral::neutral:

i have a similar one, but - (if does somewhere near accurately) reflect current marketplace value, then never thought this low would happen so soon.

  6. Just think it’s a fire sale Chris and IMO doesn’t reflect a true value on a 996.

If you think that when the 916 was released some of the 16 year old of the day would have posters of the 916 they’d be mid to late forties kind of age so maybe a decade before the 916 starts to drop in value?

  7. Am I the only one who thinks it's not a genuine add?

  8. Maybe it's cheap because the 916/996 looks so much better with the 5 spokes?

    Calm, calm...:D

  9. what makes you say that?

  10. I'm just suspicious by nature!

He's only just joined Facebook and has no posts/photo etc other than the add. The reg shown on the bike is apparently actually on an Audi A6 (MOT checker says anyway). But now I've looked again at the V5 pics and seen the true reg of the bike, it looks like the plate has already been transferred, so I'm way off there. (too many beers at the restaurant last night )

The service he mentions re throttle was done by a specialist in Harleston in Jan 2023, but Facebook reckons the seller is in Worcester. Just seems a bloody long way. Again, he may well like to ride out there/know the fella etc.

Now I absolutely acccept that I could be pissing in the wind here, and it may well be the bargain it appears. I'd just want to do a little more digging if I was interested in it.

  11. Bloody sensible to enter into any transaction with a degree of suspicion...:upyeah:

  13. I can remember, going back to the Ducatisti forum, someone posted that a bike was for sale somewhere that he had nothing to do with. I looked up the member's location and that of the bike and they were quite similar. It wasn't a coincidence :)

  14. I think its a good price and if I was looking for a bike I'd call him. I'd do all the standard checks, then meet and see if as usual the pics make the bike look better than it is.

I've never thought of bikes as an investment. I pay the price and get the enjoyment. I'm OK with the value going down (I'd naturally prefer it not to) but the riding and ownership is worth something more than just the money.

I expect bike prices to fall as old boys divest and the young buyers are in much shorter supply.

  15. just to be clear, I've never bought bikes or cars as an investment either, it's only when you find you can't fix them up easily and get rid of them, as changing circumstances necessitate, that they can become a ball and chain that you didn't see coming.

  16. Completely agree. Its a real bind when its either "give it away" or keep it -especially on occasions when I've needed the cash!

On flip side, I bought a few things over the years that were "an absolute steal" that made me extremely happy. Swings & roundabouts I guess.

  17. They do look better with the 5 spokes, the 3 spokers looked like the wheels were an after thought.
