The silencers were easy. It was attempting to get to a couple of bolts without removing the rear shock that was awkward. The cat lambda sensor caused the biggest issue as it was located in a stupid place between the tank and frame. The rear tank bolts were 2 minutes, it was the metal sleeves that go into the bushes at the front of the tank that took the time as they would not pull out and caused much swearing. Once I eventually got them out the tank could be lifted to access the lambda plug. The next awkward bit was getting the two y piece bolts into the small hangers. The silencers were 2-3mm out of line so the bolts were going in cross threaded. Removing the small brackets and fitting the y piece bolts first before refitting the brackets solved that issue. Doing it again it would be much easier as you know where everything goes and how to access certain bolts.
I took one of these bikes out for a test ride recently and it had that exhaust fitted. It's bloody loud but makes some exceptionally entertaining noises and it looks much better without the external routing. The bike is huge fun on the road and I'm seriously tempted to get one, but it would have to be with the exhaust (which actually isn't terribly priced as far as Ducati go).
You can get 20% ( or more ) off if you shop around. I know Ducati Manchester offer 20% off your first order but other places may match it.
I always shop around and negotiate. When you have to earn your money there's no sense in giving away more than you have to.
Looks great Ian. I had some similar nightmares fitting the Termignoni exhaust to my bike as it has zero faciilty to run it with a number plate and rear indicators/number plate light, so had to get creative with a custom bracket and LOTS of measurements. Probably should sell the design to them so they can offer it as a road version instead of a track only setup, and like most aftermarket systems, in our current nanny state, it is splattered with laser etched warnings on it. My give a f*ck meter is not even registering.
Yours will have been 10 times harder than mine Rod ! You are correct about the ‘warnings’ etched onto the silencers. There is enough text to write a novel. Mine has magically disappeared since I fitted some black adhesive heat shield over it.
