698 Advice

  1. Hi,

Has anyone seen any "good deals" on the mono?
I would like to buy one.

Probably the wrong time of year but with the current state ...

    Kindest Regards
    Richard

  2. I’d ring round dealers tbh, you might get lucky on a cancelled order.

That’s what used to do back in the day when looking for a new bike.

There are only a few Ducati dealers so shouldn’t take long, you would also be registering your interest in buying a 698 with those you speak to.

You could of course slum it in the cheap seats on a 690/701/700SM, buy the innovator not the follower so to speak. Especially as you’d save a heap of money.

    Godd Luck

  3. Be sure to demo one first. With the engine ticking sound and the low-down fueling debacle, there are things you need to know that you can live with,

  4. 50-2-50 deal is on at the moment. Pay 50% then nothing for two years, then another 50%.
Also £1000 if test passed within the last year. I've spoken to a few dealers over the last few weeks and they all offered money off.

  5. Yeah looked at the 690 around 2k less as you say

  6. Yeah thanks, the ticking is Desmo? and apparently the DNA, Sprint filter helps along with temp' dongle for midrange, surging and on/off throttle.

  7. Yeah thanks, the 50/50 is, obviously, biased their way financially.
Three years and I would do it.
I've yet to find a dealer to offer money off, sadly.

  8. I didn't get a penny off, but then again once I sat on one I said "I'm having it" and gave the game away.
I took the 50/50 deal and will see what the value of them is in 20 months time and make the decision of hand it back vs trade in vs pay remaining 50% and keep it.

See quite alot of them for sale with very low miles, maybe there are alot of impulse purchases on them or people can't live with the single cylinder 'thumper' engine shaking their fillings out.

I bet you could get a good deal on a nearly new that somone has ticked all the options on, exhaust etc or an ex demo.

  9. The engine isn't a rough arsed single cylinder circa 1950, the only time it'll feel rough is if you are in the wrong gear pulling out of corners. The engine IME is a Peach.

Possibly they're low Miles because unless you're an Ironarse as what @Paul55 and me (Husqvarna/GasGas respectively)that can endure a long duration on a plank they're more for dropping down the local bike meet than riding very far.

Then I guess owners get buyers remorse because well out of the 3/4 bikes they own it just sits there going not very far. I haven't ridden mine that much but still just short of 5,000 in 24 Months.

  10. Wish I could get permission to buy 3/4 bikes off the Mrs, but having silly cars doesn’t help my case. I’ve done some 150+mile rides out on the twisties and not had any discomfort. I’ve done 1500 miles in total up to now, trouble free apart from the seat lugs.

I had a demo Monster SP when mine was in for first service, that made me question if I’d made the right decision though.

Had a KTM Duke 640 in the past and that was a lumpy engine, but a lot of fun too.

  11. I bought a new 701 earlier this year, Rides a lot better on the open road than i had expected it would, Seat is like a plank for sure,
Just fitted full Leo Vince system/ Mapped the ECU and stage 2 open airbox ect and theres a very noticable difference.
Only thing that put me of the 698 was the difference with this just been a second fun bike, Got the 701 for £8500 new, Other than the crap original colour i think they look good, Now fitted a full decal kit and well happy.

  12. Just about to upgrade my GG700 going to fit the cone filter, delete the Euro 5 garbage and fit a complete tecmo system now my bikes without warranty.

I'm toying with the idea of buying a set of vitpilen wheels and altering the rims to do a little light green laning too.

  13. Ducati now offering 2.9% APR on all Hypermotard models. Available on PCP and HP. That and the 50 2 50 deal are pretty competitive offers.

  14. Hi mate, I’ve been looking at a mono or Husky 701, been moving toward the 701 as it’s a 2nd bike just for fun. Would you recommend the 701 over the KTM 690 as well? That’s a very decent price on new, I have been struggling to find anything much below rrp, was it a 2024 pre registered bike?

  15. They are essentially the same bike apart from shape and colour of the plastics. I'd just choose the one I liked the colour of best or the one I could get the best deal on.

  16. Out of the 3 models

    KTM 690
    Husq 701
    GasGas 700

The GasGas comes out the cheapest as a general rule, it hasn’t the kudos of the KTM or Husqvarna brands.

Bought mine as an ex demo with 150 miles on the dash £7000 2 years ago.

I’d have preferred the Husqvarna due to it’s colour, however I’m averse to spending money unnecessarily so GG it is.

  17. As mentioned in other post above the 701 and 690 plus the GasGas 700 are all basically the same bikes other than the looks,
No mine was brand new unregistered in Jan 25, 24 model.
Honestly mate just go for the one you like the look off

  20. Thanks for some great advise folks, much appreciated.
Refreshing to just pick a bike based on looks and my tastes! The 701 is best looking bike for me personally.

Doesn't appear to be any great deals on new or pre registered just now, not surprising given my timing. I will give it a couple of months and see what happens. It’s a 2nd bike so dose not need to be the latest and greatest in terms of spec either.

I see Ducati are offering 2.9% across the Hypermotard range but I would rather get a cash price reduction than finance.
I asked Glasgow for a quote but they say the 2.9% rate isn’t available yet on their Blackhorse finance quotation app yet!
