Good Set Of Gloves

  1. Anyone recommend a good set of gloves, especially if you've had an incident.

    Currently looking at Handroids

    TIA

  2. +1 for handroids :upyeah:

  3. The weakness with the Knox Handroid is the very vulnerable cable and pulley tightening system.
They do send you a free repair kit, but it seems unnecessarily complex.

  4. I like the BOA system, at least on my cycling shoes and safety boots. Not had an issue with the system letting me down, maybe something specific to gloves?

  5. I've got a pair of those, not crashed in them, but very comfortable, and loads of protection. A Bargain at the price in the link

  6. I've got the newer handroids and I like the BOA cuff for the street, fits easily over most cuffs. Dont like it on trackdays as it is a pain to fiddle with the wristbands so I've been looking for something else for the track. I had a light crash (for my hand at least) and they did fine. They are one of the few gloves that fit me well so that's a big player.

  7. I like short gloves

    Klim summer enduro
    Klim WP Vanguard
    BKS all season gloves

  8. Another Knox Handroider here. I concur they’re a bit fiddly to get on and off in a hurry, a bit of a faff showing the wristband on a track day.

I’ve had a fast off in them and despite my fingers and wrist stinging like feck, they were relatively unmarked. They fit well and are comfortable.

  9. Definitely steer clear of Alpinestars, they fall apart if you sneeze! I am a Handroid convert, including having crashed in them. For trackday wristband inspection, I find if I make sure it is visible past the sleeve of my leathers I just pull on the palm side of the cuff and you can see the wristband without any need to loosen or remove anything.

  10. There's Alpinestars and there's Alpinestars. The top end are still good, the cheap ones are no better than your nan's gardening gloves.
I used Held for a while, however I found the throat of the glove incredibly tight for my diggers, probably ok if you've smaller hands.

  11. I have had 4 or 5 pairs of the Supertech Gloves and they have all fallen apart (mostly split seams on fingers). All bought from genuine UK suppliers for much more money that I think they are worth. You may ask why I continued buying them?... on each occasion I thought I had been unlucky and thought I would give them another go!

  12. I paid a shit ton for a set of Alpinestars tech air compatible leathers. I haven’t really worn them that much (I don’t do too many track days) and sure enough they’re literally coming apart at the seams. Not good enough for what they cost. In summary- shite!

And they’re a bastard to get on and off quickly. And with the air vest zipped in, weigh a friggin ton! Pah… moan over :D

  13. They've been trading on the name and past glories it seems (seams) o_O

  14. Boom- boom!! :D

Many a true word spoken in jest…

For balance, I still like the Supertech R’s. They seam to stay together for a reasonable amount of time. For now anyway…

  15. And also for balance I think the Handroids are a safe glove. My off was about 60 mph in them, gentle slide across the track. Then the grass.
No damage to my hands at all, not even stiffness. But the leather tore up by the cuff and the boa wheel got damaged. I took them to Hill For Leather to see if they can be repaired and he won’t touch them due to the ‘exoskeleton’. Swapped to the Racers which have kangaroo skin etc and they, imho, are far superior in every way.

  16. Same here, I am on about my 4th pair of Supertech R Boots, and now they have gone away from the metal lace holes that would rust and wear the lace, they should last even longer.
