Hi, i have just purchased a 2016 XDiavel S and looking to install a usb socket. The socket has a positive and negative for the battery, and a 3rd switched wire to go to the ignition. On an xdiavel where exactly do we connect the switched wire. Thanks
Doesn’t it already have one under the bars near the tank somewhere? I’m sure mine does although I’ve never had the need to look for it.
At the front of the tank, on the RHS, near the coolant top up bottle, but probably tucked away out of sight, should be a lead with a plug attached to it. If it’s not been tapped into previously it will have black shrink wrap crimped around the end of it. That should be a 12v switched supply, ie only live when the key is turned to On. Once you’ve located it and tested which is live and which is the ground then you just need to connect your +ve and -ve leads accordingly and forget about the switched lead.
No ive had a good look around, there only tge optimate connector on the side, which i dont want to utilize for the usb as rather have it properly wired in and discreet
Ive had a good look and there is quite a bit of wiring in there but cant find any shrink wrapped plug or cable. Ive got the belt change booked in 2 weeks so may get ducati to install it, thanks
I spoke to Ducati, if i provide the socket they will install it for £100, not sure if thats good or bad, they will use all 3 wires so theres 0 drain when ignition is off I did check with another local garage and they dont touch ducati and bmw wirings
