So it's renewal time, I've not had my 'official' Ducati insurance quote yeet but I did a price comparison with MCN and they send me a quote each year. Ducati Insurance on my Multistrada V4S - £412 BUT with a £650 excess Hastings - £287 with a £250 excess A lot of the other companies have a £650 excess, some with £350, but higher premiums Had been insured with Hastings before but never needed to make a claim. Let's have some feedback, Good or Bad
Like any broker, Hastings will have its advocates and its haters, you only find out how good when the shit hits the fan. I’d be more interested in who the underwriter is because I don’t involve the broker in a claim and definitely don’t use the broker’s claim handling firm. Andy
No better and no worse than any of the others. I have them on two current policies and have had one claim through them a couple of years ago.
I thought same when took out insurance with Hastings but they were great when i claimed 2 months ago. No hassles at all or with them or claims handlers 4th dimension. Took on board dealers pics of damage and coughed up (serious money) with no quibble in couple days
I also have just changed to Hastings. No help on how they will perform if needed I'm afraid but like you with a £200pa cheaper quote it would be daft not to have done.
I've moved over from Devitt (6years) to Footman James, they have the option to choose guaranteed value and £0.00 buy back which is great considering even a small accident is a write off nowadays. So if I drop my 916 I get £25,000 and the bike back with no deductions. They even added my Honda CBR600RR for free Total premium £615 with £200 Excess in S/E London.
I make sure I get a direct contact telephone number to the underwriter The last two incidents I was involved in (both car write offs), I dealt with directly with the insurer/underwriter by phone. Having previously been the innocent party in an attempted insurance fraud and left high and dry in court by a broker’s recommended claims management company, I’ll never use one again. Andy
Ah Hastings....read the fine print....about 15 years ago or so our Renault Megane got written off....when i say written off the rear arch was dented. We looked after it got it serviced whenever it needed it, anything that went wrong got repaired...it was a great car. Hastings wrote it off and demanded the car. I said i was prepared to buy it back and they refused... "its in the T's & c's" they never let you keep the car....the only way i could own it was to buy it back at auction..ironically they also told me the auction was in Cornwall.... wife has spotted the car in Bristol a couple of times...ill never use them again ever...
