Ya, I'm being kept awake at nights thinking about Supercorsa's hydroplaning. The optimist part of me (together with the idiot part of me) is predicting the weather on Saturday won't be as bad as the current forecast (which is shite). Regardless, I'll be having to go easy... sigh...
Augh! Weather forecast is still pretty bad for Saturday so I spoke to Graham at Cambrian Tyres and he'll be able to fit some new wets onto the little Aprilia.
Well the day started with a soaking, started to dry a bit, now soaking again. I have walked round the track perimeter. It is narrow, so would need to be confident in steering and feel the slicks might be the wrong tyre. Plenty of people out on wets though. Hopefully tomorrow is better .
Worst bit when it's been wet is from Hall bends to Barn, it takes a lot longer to dry even if the rest of the track is ok, but it's better than it used to be! Water can run across the track at the bottom of Mansfield as well I might have a ride up tomorrow and watch
Ya, it was really wet yesterday! I'm soooo gland I opted for a pair of wets and a big THANK YOU to the guys at Continental Tyres for getting the tyres on short notice & for Rich Llewllin for fitting them. As it turned out Rich was my instructor for two wet track sessions... and I was amazed how hard you can push on a wet track with proper tyres. So much fun!! Thank you Rich!
Had a ride to Cadwell late morning, saw a couple of sessions, wandered round and looked at the lovely bikes, then it rained really hard, and thundered which was a shame for everybody, just had a very wet ride home.
What a shame after recent weather. Cadwell is my favourite circuit but it’s bloody miserable in the wet.
Just got back. No sessions day one. Was allowed out in rookies day two to get my sighting laps in. Stayed out hole session. My “Race Bikes” group was next session so just rolled into the collecting area and went off again. One red flag, loads of yellows and “surface change” flags made it a challenge, but I got some idea why people like Cadwell. It takes balls and belief to go fast. That’s my kind of track, so will go back one day. The rain this afternoon was even worse than day one. I was impressed with how many in all groups just ploughed on with their wets.
I think you must have been having a cup of tea when I wandered past as there was nobody there. Nice bikes Is that an ex Stuart Easton bike?
Yes. probably hiding from the rain in my ambulance van. The owner of the sister bike came over for a chat. It’s now in France.
