It's the Barn Cafe between Fernhurst and Midhurst, next to the Banyan Indian restaurant. It was a brilliant breakfast, despite not having black pudding! As funny as it sounds, people go there for their toast, which is grilled in butter, and is like nothing we've had before.
Last night, did this in Bath Theatre Royal. There were people from Weston-super-Mare in attendance, where he was born, and Brent Knoll where his family were evacuated to in WWII. Apparently, Weston-super-Mare was bombed during the war. The conclusion is that the Germans had known that they were losing the war and were now just trying to help. Unfortunately, the British didn't see the funny side and rebuilt the place into the dump it is now! He doesn't care much now for the BBC, modern TV, as well as modern politics. He's 85 and still working, but I would think just because he enjoys it. I wouldn't think that he needs the money! The theatre was full.: In An Audience with John Cleese, the Monty Python legend is joined on stage by broadcaster Matt Stadlen for an unmissable conversation about life, creativity, and a career that's shaped modern comedy. I parked at Bath Park & Ride at Lansdown, They stopped buses back at either 6pm or 9pm as I assumed that Bath would be dead on a Sunday night. When I came out of the Theatre at about 9:30, Bath was rocking! Loads of people out and the bars were crammed! So why stop the buses so early, unless you really do have a hate your customers! The alternative would be to take the train, but since trains are untrustworthy on a Sunday night (well, any part of Sunday, really) I had to get a taxi back to the Park & Ride - well more Park than Ride,
Had my first Taco today (first monday of every month work sorts out a free lunch which is really nice of them). Fucking horrible....like Clarkson said... "like sick with cheese on it"
Listened to Test Match Special on the wireless, specifically England’s batting collapse, resulting in them being bowled out 6 runs short in an absolutely thrilling end to a brilliant Test match against India which brought an end to a fantastic series. 2-2 was probably a fair result overall. Cricket was the winner!
Take away the fungus and that looks to be a top drawer plate of food. A question though, why can’t restaurants just use normal plates? Slate tiles, skillets, planks of wood, what are we achieving here?
Woke up this morning in a great deal of discomfort. So much so, I arranged for a triage phonecall from the surgery in the hope of getting an appointment. 10 minutes later, got a text message from one of the doctors with a link to make an appointment "as soon as possible". Am I worried? I wasn't until I got a phone call an hour later to check that I'd made an appointment. Been diagnosed with a UTI that has taken hold with a vengeance and politely told to "not be a man and put up with symptoms so long again" Got major, super duper megabiotics for the next 7 days. I do hope they kick in soon. Andy
Oddly, I’ve got to stop Statins for the 7 days I did ask about beer and so long as I leave an hour after taking the medication, the odd beer will help flush the bladder and eurethra Andy
Registered the pup with the vets. Spent most of the afternoon playing with him.........the little fucker is a bit lively!
Kept an eye on the weather all day and hoped it did what it said it would. Wind dried the roads, sun came out this evening so headed down to the H cafe bike night. Not as busy as it has been lately but a fair few bikes still. Spotted an 848 down there also. Good times.
Now I don’t want to be picky but if it’s grilled it’s either cooked under or over heat. If it’s ‘in’ butter it can’t be grilled surely. Sounds like a very nice ‘n tasty heart attack on a plate. Enjoy.
Got a phone call from my Tennant today. They’ve found a house they want to buy and they’re moving out. I’ve always treated them very well and sorted anything immediately. They’ve been good tenants so it’s a shame to see them go. Fair enough, good for them. It’s been a good relationship, if you can call it that. Then he tells me he wants to pay the months rent in a couple of days and clear off before the end of the month. I was shocked. I was so shocked at the proposal that I couldn’t get my head around it and when I asked to clarify moving out dates and when the contract term ends he got chippy with me and laid it on me that I was being unreasonable. Further shock. I asked about searches etc. surely they’ll take a while? He says he’s been looking at them over the weekend. Therefore on a scale of weeks and months how long has he known about this and then he drops it on me short notice. Why? Why, why why? I just don’t see the reason not to tell me before but what really pissed me off is that ‘I was the person being unreasonable’. I hadn’t even raised my voice. It was out of the blue and I wasn’t armed with the facts, so I said let’s not get out of shape, let me speak to the agent. Turns out it’s a years contract to October. There’s the rub. Surely as a line of logic, if you wanted to get out of a contract early you’d give as much notice as possible, thus giving me chance to find a new tennant seamlessly and I’d let them out of it. Bloody bonkers. So I buggered off to the tyre fitters and got the new Dunlop Roadsmart 1V’s I’d ordered fitted to loose Marchesini rims. Made me feel better.
