'Orla' (from our Fly's last litter of pups) is lucky enough to live with humans that have a second home in the Swiss Alps. Being just 8 months old, this is the first time there for her. BIG storm on arrival but she was completely unfazed......
Black cats are the best, our little one we rescued last year called Ninja had a litter, they are almost exactly the same age. Sadly, we lost one very early on but these two have found a home together in a few weeks
Our two............Little and Large. The fat lass is 35kg and the pup is probably 2kg (cant say for sure till next week when he'll be weighed properly)
Nah Matey. Fly is a traditional Border Collie name. Was around waaay before the Babe film Just for interest...... It's widely accepted that the first Border Collie (around 1900) was a dog named 'Old Hemp'. He had a famous Son named 'Old Kep'. Every Border Collie around the world could trace their lineage back to them. The KC finally recognised the Border Collie as a 'Pure Breed' in 1976.
Last year we unexpectedly inherited a 3 month old miniature Daschund puppy, with a big family ski trip already booked and not wanting to leave him, @the_ski_dawg was born
Get a puppy they said. It'll be fun they said. This little twat (the furry thing on the left) is part chimpanzee as hes managed to fling his shit not only across his pen, crate and bed but also half way across the dining room.......its taken us both over an hour first thing this morning to clean up his mess, the little twat
At the risk of getting boring… Border Collies do go back further. To 1904 (ish) in fact. They were all BCs until 1976 and then with the KC recognising them as a ‘thoroughbred’ breed, from then on the KC registered ones are ‘Border Collies’ and the others (usually ISDS International Sheepdog society registered) are now referred to as ‘Working Collies’. Genetically the same animal, but bred for different attributes. There’s no snobbery between the two though. In fact the Working Collies are perhaps the more admired of the two breeding lines. And … a good, 2yo trained Working Collie can fetch £15k easily these days.
