(small) Bike Things You've Done Today

  1. Yesterday.

Me and my youngest son did an enduro training day at Desert Rose Racing near Hailsham in Sussex.

It was awesome but I had a pretty heavy unscheduled dismount which has left me a bit battered and bruised. I hit a tree root at speed which deflected the front wheel and sent me semi over the bars, landing heavily on my left knee and then the bike landed on me. I also smashed the back of my hand, hurt my left shoulder and wrenched my back. Great fun! Pics to follow at some stage.

  4. Took the bike out yesterday to fill the tank, ready for our trip to Devon on Friday. It was already full, so I used it all up, then filled it back up, as I’m a man of my word!

  6. Been getting the sp ready for its mot tomorrow, just need a legal size plate and it’s all set.
I decided to take the stock clutch cover off to have a gander, and wow! Also did non Varese bikes have Cagiva clutch covers? IMG_1709.jpeg IMG_1701.jpeg IMG_1703.jpeg

  8. Have had the bike a few weeks now and wanted to make sure it had a once over from Ducati. I’ve previously always used Snells in Alton when I had the Monster many years back (before the Aprillia RSV4 RF stint) and my wife’s Dad has always used them for his Diavel, Panigale and now Streetfighter.

Had a ride down there today from mine. The roads from Odium to Alton are pretty decent.

I took the heat shield kit with me (that I had purchased from DucatiSpacers) for them to fit under the seat and panels as well as the Evotech Bar End weights as well. They did both for me as part of the job. Swapped out the air filter for a new one, replaced the coolant (it was overfilled and what was in there wasn’t great).

Good news is, they think it’s an excellent example. That’s what I was hoping to hear.

Snells were top class as always, Jason the technician / mechanic was excellent. Would throughly recommend them as a dealership if you are close enough. Very impressive indeed.

  9. The outfit that supplied the new Dunlops balanced the rear wheel but didn’t have a spindle to fit the front, which surprised me because they do quite a few bike tyres.

Net result I had to go to my lockup and find my wheel balancer. I’ll get some satisfaction from using it again but the question is will the Mrs be quite so happy when I set it all up on the kitchen worktop?

Hey, it’s perfectly level, where else am I going to do it?

  10. Just seen this  I am in the process of putting black 5 spokes on mine - wasn’t sure if they would suit the bike but look great on yours. Should be ready for fitting by the weekend

  11. Stuff turning up for a thoroughly therapeutic friday night in the garage working on the RSV4 (other half's mates are coming round to empty the wine fridge so not only a nice evening in the garage she'll be snoring within minutes of hitting the pillow).... Domino throttle turned up...surprisingly has come with fixed cables. Seems to be a bit of a lottery on a cabling front on what you get....

Hyper turned up with what i expected...cables that you cut to length.
Zed had Venill cables with with extra stainless ends for the cables once cut.
RSV4 as above fixed length pressed cables (kind of like oem)

Waiting on a RH heated grip as i cut down the one i fitted as the oem throttle tube is about a cm shorter than normal.

    Kaoko throttle lock already arrived.

  12. Updated the sat nav, put the bike on charge & checked the tyre pressures ready for Friday. Won't bother washing the bike, as I don't want to jinx the weather! Am checking out routes to get to North Devon, so if anyone knows any decent lunch stops around Salisbury/ Shaftesbury, we'll be in the area at lunchtime.

  15. Went to a bike night I've not visited before. A vast array of bikes from old British thumpers, R1's , C90's all sorts in a lovely location. I'll go again.
