V4 Legs Getting Too Hot

I've a 2024 V4s
Flaps always open as I rarely ride in the winter , I can't believe how hot it gets circa 103 in town/traffic amd 88 on the go.
I have an air cushion comfort seat , I'm sure with this it retains even more heat as my man jewels were absolutely Poached in the recent hot weather, I wear Revit Airwave 3 vented trousers and even with these it can get pretty bad

 

We were all standing on the pegs every time we rode into a village in France to cool off the nether regions

Interesting but I suspect that that although it might lower the temperature of the whole engine it will still be very hot to ride in slow European conditions.

We do a lot of desert pavement riding here in SoCal where the temps in the summer are usually 100F+. I normally ride with Klim Latitude jacket and pants. I thought I might be more comfortable with a set of Klim Induction jacket and pants this year. The jacket passes a lot of air so that's great but the pants worked entirely the wrong way on the Multi. All they do is allow the hot air from the vents right through to my legs. The only way to minimize it is to keep my legs tight against the bike so that the vented air passes around them. Went back to the Latitude and no more issue. Thinking back to many years ago when I had an air cooled V twin bike I had the same issue in the summer which was mitigated with heavy Aerostich pants. Could have saved the cost of the Induction pants if I had remembered

10k miles on my 22 V4S and I can’t say I’ve really noticed it tbh. Or if I have it’s not been an issue to remark on so obviously doesn’t bother me.

 

I rode in the desert Saturday at about 100F and paid particular attention to the heat. I had my vented Induction pants on. The side panels get "warm" but that's about it. Nothing uncomfortable. I noticed that I'm not actually pressing my legs against the tank as much as I am just keeping my boots as inboard as possible. When I ride like this the hot air doesn't hit my legs at all. If I move my feet further apart then the hot blast goes right through to my legs. I'm on a Rally with a different fuel tank configuration (aluminum) as well as rubber pads on the tank that my legs press against. Maybe that's the difference?

Just for the heck of it I stopped and closed one of the air vents just to see. Forget that! The heat that comes up without the vented air flow is damn near unbearable!

Good post , I was in Spain 2 years ago and hit a heat wave , we saw temps around 40 to 42 degrees , the bike was hot as was the air everywhere . I wore vented leathers with a Knox urban Pro jacket as was fine , as long as not stopped . Stopped , fried egg once moving all good again , like riding into a hair dryer , so all was hot .

Recently toured in southern France,air temp was 36 degrees and as soon as I slowed down or stopped in traffic the bikes temp would rise from 87 to 104 in under a minute!
The heat made it difficult to grip the tank with my knees,made riding much less enjoyable.
In the end I was having to jump off the bike when stopped in traffic!
My V4 runs about 20 degrees hotter than my previous 1260s,before buying it I read the Grantourismo engine ran hotter but I wasn’t expecting this!
The air temperature was quite extreme,and since returning home the problem is not so bad,but the heat still builds quickly when moving slow.
I was riding with the seat on the lower setting,maybe this was holding the heat in?
On return I did message Ducati through the app,asking if anything could be done,any updates etc and was amazed to receive a phone call from Bologna asking about the problem,advising to discuss it with my dealer who made Ducati UK aware of my concerns,may be if you’ve got the same problem go through the app and message Ducati?

 

Would be really interested in any further feedback given by the dealer or Ducati UK

 

Never had it that bad , but even in the hot days in Spain I have never had to jump off the bike. I do wear leather trousers so wonder if they deflect the heat more than the touring tex pants . Just a thought
