Are There Changes To The Motorcycle Mot Coming Into Force Later This Year ?

  1. They are ok until you indicate abd brake simultaneously. Then the indicator is virtually invisible.

  2. Was riding in Wales and FoD with three GSs today. Yes, don't think much of those combined tail light/indicators.
     
  3. I think the photo thing is because of the fake MoTs where the vehicle was never at the testing station. Dodgy people will find a way but it will make it harder.

  4. My chum has a plug in module which stops the appropriate break light coming on if you brake whilst indicating, the other one still shows a brake light. I agree that these combined indicator lights are a solution for a problem that didn’t exist

  6. Making a problem, that didn’t exist before, but now does. Re rear Panzer lights. Have never read anything (yet) that explains why the BMW design rear light set up is an improvement over the previous iteration :mad:

  7. Is it just me that ignores indication from other road users?

    My experience is, if they bother indicating at all, a high percentage of the time it's wrong or misleading

    Perhaps my advancing years, with some vehicles I don't even see the indicators due to positioning and ambient conditions.

    You'd have thought with ultra bright LEDs signalling on vehicles would have improved visibility, but instead stylists just use them as frippery

    I do always indicate and wouldn't dream of installing something that reduced signalling visibilty especially to the rear for others.

    I know who'll be loser if/when it goes pear shaped.

    Haven't posted for yonks, as I don't have the 1098 anymore, but lurk a bit. Nice to see a lot of the old members still on here and haven't changed by the looks of it.

  8. I nearly got caught out by incorrect indication yesterday.
    Turning right out of a side road, get to the yield line. A bread lorry and a tesla approaching from my right both indicating left to turn in to the road I am leaving and appeared to be slowing.
    I check left is clear and pull out to join the main road when they were maybe 15m from me. Front of lorry dips sharply, tyres lock, does not turn into the side road, barely missing my rear wheel, and the Tesla too just carried on without turning, both merrily still indicating left, but there is not another left turn for a mile. In years gone by, I might have just ignored it and thought no more about it, but now I think I’m with Roger, Pete, John and Keith… “won’t get fooled again”

  9. I never trust an indicator in that situation unless I see the oncoming vehicle make a physical change that shows me that they ARE going to go left, such as slowing, or perhaps road positioning. The car behind though may have still got me in your situation...

    My pet driving hate at the moment is people indicating right to go around a roundabout, but they dont cancel or (preferably) indicate left just before they leave the roundabout leaving you to sit there when you could have gone already. The opposite often happens too, the other day I was at a large busy roundabout heading around Glos in my VW bus that is very heavy with probably 40HP on tap. I was just about to get going and someone comes around with no indicators on in the lane where he was supposed to go straight. That could have been a right mess.

    I don't know if it's just me, but driving standards seem to have taken a dive the last few years.

  10. The best one I witnessed recently was the left turn signal for someone going into their driveway; put it on as they were halfway across the footway. What was the point?

    As for the standard of driving these days, coming home the other day as I passed the last turning on the right I put the right indicator on and begin to slow to reverse on. The Khant cab following me stopped about a foot off my bumper and then wasn’t happy about having to reverse. Well give me some room then you bellend.

  11. I remember bell ends years ago, what has changed is the density of traffic - more traffic = more bell ends= bigger chance of meeting one each outing. I also think the ‘immunity’ these morons feel in their massive pointless SUVs mean they take risks they might not have in a Vauxhall Viva, or are at least going a hell of a lot faster with more momentum.

  12. I don’t like these very low indicators that are on some cars rear bumpers, Hyundai and Kia spring to mind. So low down they are hard to see if you have another car in between when you are following them
