Fun roadbike only trackday at Bedford on Monday with @Jolley on the V4’s. First trackday on mine but the bike practically rides itself anyway great fun!
Navigating the Turn One carnage, I (56) go in as deep as possible then make a wide line to get on the gas early and make a pass at Hollywood. Well, that was the plan, anyway Ended up having a proper ding dong with Simon from Louigi Moto (10). No trophies, but I was best of the rookies (orange bibs).
Quite clear now I had wrong gearing for straights. Needed 10-15 mph more to make more passes between 7 & 9k rpm, not 11-12k
Well first ever Euro trackday done. Thought three days would be to much but far from it. Cant wait to do some more. Only problem is now I’ve started to look at V4’s but deep down know I should just learn to ride the V2 better. Highlight of the trip was sharing the garage with Mary aka Hairy. Must admit the wrap on his bike looks so much better in the flesh and that exhaust is loud, some would say like its owner but a top bloke.
Wrap!? Wrap!? It’s a paint job by Mike at Rage Designs… Great to meet yourself and Richie too. We loved the place. Great track, loved Scarperia as well. Definitely going back
Big (well absolutely massive tbh) day for me yesterday. My first track day in 1 year and 11 months since I nearly died. Arriving at the circuit I was a bag of nerves. Was not sure I could even do two sighting laps. But, once out there it all came back. I completed 5 from 7 sessions before waving the white flag due to the heat, lack of fitness and pain. My left shoulder is pretty much destroyed now so I did have to make some concessions/ adaptations to my riding “style”. Did ok. Not slow, not fast either and I even managed to get left and right knees down. Nice to try out my new R9 on track too. Need to spend a bit on it now as I really enjoyed myself (no real suprise there). Thanks to a very kind mate (longstanding but inactive forum member) for holding my hand. @Cream_Revenge A couple of pics. Don’t think the pro shots are available yet.
Were you at Snetterton yesterday? Saw a blue R9 riding through the paddock. Thought I’d do another trackday before I put the road fairings back on my bike. Let my son have a session on it which was nail biting but compared to his SV he was blown away. Glad you had a great day.
Pretty skinny these days post accident actually I went out in Novice. Only got overtaken twice, both times a GSXR 750 (obviously!!) and both times on the long straight. The Yam is fun but needs a bit more power. They are putting out 107 rear wheel stock. Same bike, same dyno with filter and system 122 rear wheel. Plenty. Watch this space.
