A bit shorter than planned today as it pi$$ed down just after the halfway point/cake. 37 miles, 2,123 ft today, 114 miles, 5,981 ft for the week. July, 26 days of activity, mostly cycling & gym, 390 miles, 17, 374 ft climbed. Currently 80 miles ahead of the yearly target, but about to go away for ten days so will have to bang in a few longer rides when I get back.
Had a ride on one of my favourite trails up above the town of Canmore. The view over town is great but the climb up is just getting too hard to the point where I am seriously considering the need for an e-bike.
Get one, they’re fantastic. They make the impossible possible and you still get loads of exercise. You just go further that’s all. The two pics were at 900m above sea level. Impossible for me without help.
60+ Miles today in near perfect weather again. It's nice to see independent cafes doing so well, in large part thanks to the cycle clip community. (I refuse to enter a Starbucks or Costas) Blake's at Clanfield, if you're passing/pedaling by.
Yes I’m also not buying from the larger sized outlets, not sure it causes them any sleepless nights as I’m just a single consumer. Prefer to spend my money at independent retailers.
Fixed the Alfine 8 speed internal hub cable, was not engaging correctly. Once I'd released the cable the external gear change mechanism fell apart which was annoying. All together now and working as designed. https://share.google/BCEHPniD8UwhLDHRb
Had a ride around the Nordic centre, then back to town for a top up and the view of 3 sisters. (Mountain range in background)!
Completely agree, not only are Independents nicer places to visit, the coffee and food is generally much better. If there is a positive side to Starbucks et al is their coffee is better than the motorway services cafes, just.
