Hi I've recently rebuilt a 999 from parts. I'd got the dash to power up and the fuel pump to prime but nothing happening at the starter. To check if it worked I connected the battery direct to the starter and it turns over but as soon as I did this I found the dashboard had lost all power - no lights or needle movement. The fuel pump still primes. I've checked the four fuses in the front fairing and the 3 on the front of the battery box and they are all OK. Any suggestions what I've done and what to check gratefully received. Thank you.
Just to update this, its not quite dead. When I turn the key on the pump primes and the engine management light (EOBD) and low fuel light briefly light for a second or two. There are no other lights and the needle doesn't spin. After that I have no electrics - lights, indicators etc apart from the headlight flasher button works and the rear brake light still works. ( there is no front brake switch yet so that cant work). Also with the ignition off the red rev limiter triangle flashes regularly. Any ideas?
Thank you. I discovered the ‘key on’ fuse wasn’t connecting properly, with a clean up it is now working as it should.
