Im trying to get my mountain bike back on the road..so ive been going through it..new bearings, chain, everything.. So im trying to remove the rear shock so that it can sent off for a service, when 'ping' the bolt that attaches it to the frame snaps..the thread lock was stronger than the bolt.. Could i find a replacement?? Not on your life mate.... Then i tried to remove the shock from the other end where it fits into an H shaped pivot (Specialized Horst Link and Fox Septune Shock)... Got 3 off, 4th one, wouldnt budge..mate had to get a bolt extractor on it and the ally was like chocolate... I took it to an industrial fasteners place here in notts and the bloke there had a play with it and said it was the cheapest, nastiest ally he'd ever seen... This is the kosher kit that comes with the bike (Stumpjumper Expert)...he basically pulled bits off it by hand with a drill bit!! But, you cant these bolts anywhere...theyre an odd size with a 1mm pitch, not the usual 1.12mm..so..youre fekked.. Looked everywhere, can you get them??? Yes..in a complete kit costing £40..and theyre still going to be shite..So ive had to bend over and get bummed on this one....all for the sake of a couple of poxy, shitty bolts.. Honestly, these companies are a disgrace...oh i know the economics of it..they cant hold stock blah blah, theyre protecting jobs blah..meanwhile the cuntsomer gets analled and cant put any more of his wages into the economy coz he's got a packet of bolts he doesnt need... Legalised scamming pisses me off..
any bolt supplier should be able to do what you want - you'll have to google and phone around. ask them to send you a "sample" in the size you need!!
steve mate, ive been all over trying to get these barstewards..the only bolts in one of the sizes required were banjo bolts...sadly not suitable...
just been on chain reaction cycles. they do next day delivery and have a whole host of shock nobs and nockas available at there online boutique. not sure if theyve got what your after. very surprised you cant easily get for cheapy cheapy asda price
i think you've put enough of your wages into the economy already looking at the price of the pushbike you have..
I used these guys for my old specialized.. supplied all the bolts in good grade ally for a tenner! Mountain bike components and mountain bikes by BETD / Goldtec
my dads on holiday but he was gonna turn one up on his lathe...thing is its a 1.0mm pitch and a get this, 9.6mm bolt...not 9.5, not 10.. but 9.6mm....
Here's mine. 2000 klein mantra. Took a year to build. Middleburn, Mavic, pace and mostly hope. Ruuuuude, no?
Canyon use a Horst link , so maybe they have the bolts cheaper than specialized. I had a stump jumper years ago, and it would die so I'm personally a fan of them.
