So what have you done today..?

  1. This is the slightly better E version, only produces around 40hp but the engine is a peach and mated to a 5 speed box it's great IMO.
His has both the SM wheels and enduro, whoever did the SM conversion was very diligent. It has everything a factory S/SM would have, it'll be getting updated once his test is out the way.
I bought it from a really nice fella from Manchester Sunday for 2k including the spare wheels and absolute bargain IMO.

  3. Had about a 70 mile ride out to Alcester and the surrounding areas. Had a bacon sarnie and coffee at a cafe in Alcester, parked the SL right outside so I could keep an eye on it, cafe worker liked it, bloke came in to order a coffee liked it, old boy on his wheels simmer frame thing liked it too!
Surprises me how much attention it gets.

  8. Well I've held off telling the forum but feel I'm able to now........................on the 13th July I apparently had an unexplained cardiac arrest. I had a CT scan back in May as I had experience chest pains over the last couple of years and the CT scan was to determine if it was a coronary issue or oesophageal/digestive issue because whenever I felt it coming on a few burps and a couple of Gaviscon seemed to sort it.

Anyway when the CT scan report came back it said my heart was fine and it was a digestive issue so they upped my lansoprazole dosage.

Anyway to cut a long story short me and Doris apparently (I can't remember) went to the Range and B&M on Sunday 13th July to get stuff from the garden. When we got home I said to her that I didn't feel well so I was going for a lie down.......next thing I know I'm waking up in Cramlington hospital ICU and it's the following Tuesday night!

Doris had found me unconscious, my heart had stopped and I'd died for 8 mins so she performed CPR (my ribs were cracked good and proper) and she called an ambulance. Like I say apparently I'd died for 8 minutes and the doctors didn't know whether I'd make it and if I did whether I'd be cabbaged (no change there then I hear you say).....but Doris's CPR work did the trick before the paramedics arrived. They put me in an induced coma hence I didn't wake up till Tuesday evening.

I got out of Cramlington hospital on the 23rd July complete with defibrillator fitted in my chest, and I've been recovering ever since.

On Wednesday (after I'd been to my friends funeral in Cheshire the day before) I went for my ICD check and general check up with the Cardiologist...……...everything is going well and I can get back to doing normal stuff. Next check will be a echocardiogram in a weeks time then a CT scan and another echocardiogram in August next year, though the ICD is monitoring me every day for any abnormal reactions.

The Cardiologist thinks it could well have been a "one off" due to an inflammation in the heart due to possibly a virus or the Covid jab (I think it's the latter), but the ICD is a level of protection and she is going to prescribe a beta blocker as a secondary level of protection against it happening again. She's also referring me to a specialist therapy group and to a keep fit type group to get me a bit fitter (I did ask for both). But on the face of it I can now get back to normal...…..though driving/riding is still a no no until January '26.

So that's been my news recently..................:p

  12. Sad and somewhat scary Terry, especially for someone who is not that old. Pleased to see the long term prognosis is good. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Andy

  15. I was reading along Terry and I thought I bet after 8 mins out he now wants a Honda and a yellow one at that but it seems all is good

I think Doris now needs to be taken to better shops then the Range and B,M and a few holidays as if she wasn’t there it seems you wouldn’t be here,

Well done Doris and all the best Terry for great recovery,

  18. Glad to hear you made it, beta blockers take some getting used to, I knocked them on the head after 12 months with cardiology blessing. A lot of the medication doesn’t have to be forever.

  19. Does this mean that from now on 13 July is going to be remembered as Doris Day?

It must have been bloody frightening for Doris, you’d have been oblivious and no help, but mercifully she kept it all together to save the Forum’s administration dept from crashing. Well done Doris, the Forum thanks you.

So pleased to hear that you’re feeling better and that the prognosis is positive. It’s an odd feeling to be shocked and fearful about Forum ‘friends’ (that you’ve never met) who are dealing with critical health issues, but a huge relief to learn they’ve come out the other side.
All the very best to you, Terry
