  3. Have a great trip, we did similar routes pre-covid then gave up the riding back through France because it always seemed to rain as we got to the border.

  4. It is called the Costa Verde for a reason. Make sure you have some good waterproofs, just in case. Some beautiful mountain roads to be explored. English language is not as prevalent in that part of Spain as it is in the south. Have a great time.

  5. Have a great trip. Looking forward to some pics !

Just wondering whether you always have to carry some cash in those mountainous regions ? - with card readers sometimes struggling in mountainous regions, requiring some ready cash to pay the bill !

  6. Absolutely, always carry a bit cash. Have a great trip!

  7. are you camping/hotels/airbnp ing

a few costs etc would be useful

  8. Enjoy. North side of mountains are wetter than south side. With that in mind, you can sometimes dodge any rain.

  9. Have a great trip! Just back from a 10 day trip starting at Santander, riding across to Jaca and through the Pyrenees, then a meandering route back up through France, finishing at some of the WWII memorial sites. Got an absolute soaking on day 1, thanks to my "chocolate teapot" rain suit, but things improved thereafter. I was glad I packed spare boots and gloves! Missing it already.

  11. Update

Norwich to Portsmouth was rather wet, torrential rain in places.

The ferry trip was a bit rough to say the least lots of smashed crockery.

We are now in Serpa Portugal having travelled down through Spain, we avoided the main roads.

Day 1) Bilbao to DE La Vid where we stayed in an old monastery 207 miles
Day 2) De La Vid to Talavera 227 miles
Day 3) Talavera to Corodoba 200 miles
Day 4) Corodoba to Serpa 213 miles

We’re staying here for 2 days before heading north to the Picos.

This trip is organised and run by Clive at Bikers Oracle Tours, it’s the last bikers Oracle trip.
If anyone is interested in the itinerary and or routes ( I have a GPX file ) just let me know.

  13. Epic country for riding a bike - daytime temperature okay ?

  14. Yeah not too bad, obviously getting hotter as we travelled south, it was 38° in Cordoba so that was a bit much, 30° here in Serpa.

  15. Interesting. I am looking to go back to Spain, but what time of year choose, so that was the reason for the question. Great place to be touring - nice to see some pics ......

  16. Spare boots? People will be taking spare helmets next :joy:

  17. The weather this year has been atypical and hopefully does not become the norm. Just been in the Basque region and northern Catalonia and whilst the mornings were cool (unsurprising for the Pyrenees) the days have been low to mid 20’s with the odd afternoon hitting 28°. Biggest drawback travelling the Pyrenees at this time of year, so is everyone else and I noticed a significant increase in the number of motorhomes and cyclists which makes any climb up a Coll, a challenge for your patience.
