So what have you done today..?

  1. Probably not but I will not know for a few years. It's really about family. My elder brother is the company secretary and his role is made harder by having shareholders living abroad. He and my sister bought out my younger brother who lives in Singapore so that just leaves a foreign shareholder in Florida, My brother was my "litigation friend" for when I was knocked off my bike in 2019, and he chose the solicitor and sorted out the terrible state of my finances. It all turned out very well and so I am happy to do something to help. I am using a small part of my compensation to help out.

We are selling up in about four years time, after a rebuild of one of the properties, so depending on tax, I should do ok financially, but that's not of vast importance to me.

  2. Yeah it's quite a (humbling?) spectacle - and if they're flying low enough you hear them & can really see what speed & power they have. It's even stranger to hear them in the dark.

I believe the V formation provides an aerodynamic advantage plus when you watch an individual bird their necks damp out their bodies/wings movement and allows their head to be perfectly stable. "Passive head stabilisation" according to Mr Google.

Watching a swan take off from water is an equally impressive sight.

  3. I watched them go the other way a few months ago.
It was a nice bit of introspection to wonder how many more times I will see it. Its part of nature's life clock

  5. Yesterday - first outing for me & my mate on our new to us matching Sherco 300s having fun on the byways around the Avebury, Wilts area. Wondering whether I'm too old for this after an 'off' due to my ambition outweighing my rusty skills! Last ventured off road about 20 years ago in my 40s...

Anyway - hats off to the V4 Multi rider we met who was navigating the Ridgeway on what looked like Rosso 4s!

  7. At 8am this morning I was at the hospital having an echocardiogram. This afternoon I am getting ink :)

  10. Around Avebury is my old stomping ground. The "Avebury Bends" by that pub were of legend. I can't remember there being a speed limit there, but I bet there is now!

And I know The Ridgeway well as I used it for running and dog walks. It has some evil ruts from the tractors using it. Doing it on a Multi verges on madness, but fair-play to the block for giving it a go!

I think it was a Yamaha DT250 that I always wanted, but never got one. To me, that would have been ideal!

  11. And I am supposed to be the one with brain damage!

Out of interest, I just looked on Autotrader. There are two, both from the '70s, which was when I was doing this shit, and they are mad money!

If I am crazy, then I'll fit right in!!!

  12. I believe Avebury was where I went in the early 80s to buy stainless fasteners from Andy Molnar and get my AJS tank powder coated. These days he resurrects the Manx Norton.

  13. No, actually it was Amesbury. Also near Stonehenge.

  14. Thank goodness for that! I was thinking that Avebury is tiny. How would I have not known!

  15. The Red Lion. That was it!

  16. Yes, I'm always grateful to find that my memory still works eventually.

  17. The DT175 is a much better bike than the 250, especially off road. They have virtually identical power but the 175 is much lighter (by almost 40kg) and does everything better. So, unless you’re enormous and won’t fit on a 175 then that’s the one to get.

  18. Probably would have been better and that is what a lot of Green Laners, who passed me, had.

I wouldn't be able to do it now, anyway. What was the definition? RUPP - Road Used as Public Path. Some memory still working!

And it is Stamp Duty that I have to pay if I acquire my Uncle's shares. Not very much my brother says.

  19. I’m glad to read you have family help with navigating the complexities of tax implications
