  1. Where I can get a copy of this made, in the UK or preferably the EU?

  3. I know they make swingarms, dont know if they make to order. Could ask them I guess.

Prefer someone in the EU though. Since Brexit I have to pay over 30% import and handling fees from anything that comes in from the UK. Worse than that though, if I send mine to Metmachex THEY have to pay UK import charges on it... and even though the swingarm isnt theirs, they wont get that money back.

  5. That is their special ‘please go away and bother someone else’ price. If you are daft enough to go for it, we will farm it out to a fab shop, paying them £2000 - 2500.
Or maybe they took it that you wanted an exact copy, including the, ahem, how should I say… impressionist welding, which, for anyone who really makes top quality fab work in aluminium would struggle to copy the , umm… chubby welds, gaps and inclusions.
(No offence meant, hope your beloved grandad didn’t make it by hand with an acetylene lamp in hard times)

  6. Yes I figured that it was a 'sod off son'

And no my grandad didnt make it, he was German Flak Gunner, not an Italian working for Verlicchi. This is an Original first Edition 851 Tricolore Kit swingarm (I'm assuming its a verlicchi, it might be Ducati factory made)

  7. Why do you want it copied? If you don't mind me asking...Maybe it can be restored if that would be a solution?

  8. Were the Verlicci arms the standard 851 and they just added the bracing? That would be the normal practice unless the length was changed. Weren’t the early monster alu arms the same dims as the 851? It would be a lot smaller job to obtain and brace one of those than a full fab from scratch.

  10. No. The 1988 851 Tricolore Strada and Kit were homologation specials. Pretty different from the 1989 onwards 851's and 888's that you are familiar with.

My TT1-F1 currently has a converted post 89 swing... And it just niggles me 'cos its massive.

  12. Frame #1, Tank #1, Seat #2
    misc 011.jpg

Frame was twisted...so Roy Thersby replaced it. Tank was wrong type, So Roy replaced it. Seat from ORSP was awfull quality, and I tried to alter it so many times, that it lost structural integrity.

    Seat #1...didnt fit the frame.

    Tank #2. Forks #1 (54mm Forcella Italia. 996 forks I think) F1%20R%20011_000.jpg

The tank had a false bottom. a metal skirt, onto which I moulded carbon fibre throttle guides, and used to house the electrics.

Frame #2 Tank #2. Seat #2 Forks #1. Ford Escort XR3i Carrello Spolights. Tank Bag holder sewn together by moi after a saddle maker said it was impossible to make from the two Bagster tank covers I gave them... hard work but I thought 'I'll F**king show them!' Roy had sent me an aluminium plate to hold two fuel caps, very daunting getting a dremel out to cut holes in a fuel tank! IMG_7130 - Copy.JPG

Custom made exhaust Stainless system. Forks #2 Early paso Forks. 888 Floating front brembo discs

Seat #3. Tank #2. Fairing #1. The fairing bottom didnt fit the wider 900SS engine and homemade exhaust so I had to cut it straight down the middle at the bottom. I later got it rejoined by a Fibreglass company in the next village to me (made a change from the canoes they usually make!) Forks #2 I Shortened the pipe and got it Ceramic coated (Sent to Scotland for that!) Cutsom made brake discs. by Disc Doctor in the UK an AWFUL experience.. I literally had to phone the guy from a hidden number at 1, 2, 3 am to get him to answer after months of waiting... and he didnt even follow my F**king design. Roy thersby worked on them to look more aesthetic
