So what have you done today..?

  1. I'm near Tintagel now. My westward journey has come to an end as I have run out of land.

My van has also run out of brakes and as a result, I rolled backward off a sloped forecourt into the road earlier on, but thankfully I managed to yank the handbrake on and slam it into P ('tis an auto) before it went all the way across. :astonished:

  2. Pretty much on it, but there's a kind of slip road which leads to it. I don't think the A30 has lighting in that area though.

  3. What always amazes me with these buildings is the fine 'mortar' layer between the external stones and how the hell did they construct those windows? and I've just noticed the bull (?) on the far right of the second layer.

  4. Mine will do 45 miles on a charge, before the proper engine takes over. It’ll cost £1.30 to charge it overnight. The hybrid stuff aids the acceleration, so the thing is stupidly fast, despite weighing more than the titanic! And I can go into London in it (not that I ever would), or anny other low emission zones city, and it’s exempt from the congestion charge.

  5. Today I made an appointment to have this year's Flu and Covid vaccinations on 2 October, at my efficient and helpful pharmacy. Avoiding the several inefficient and unhelpful ones.

  8. I don't tend to drive much, but Bristol and Bath have those. I think that I go in the Bristol one if I drive to Fowlers. Somehow my ten year old gas guzzling Ford, doesn't attract any charges. London may be more fussy, but I would never want to drive there. When I picked up- my new KTM from Fowlers, I took for a ride to Bath and went right through the middle of the city. It should of been fine as a brand new twenty something bike, but my Ducatis are old wouldn't pass anything. Does this tosh apply to motorcycles?

  9. I can’t remember TBH. Nice pasties though :)

  10. Blimey!

  11. Mine can do c20 miles on leccy. 80p to charge on low rate.

Powers the rear wheels, while the petrol engine does the front - it’s pretty rapid for an MPV in Sport mode which uses both motors and effectively 4WD.

If we only do a bit of local driving, we use the leccy. We’ve hadd it since April and put abt £80 petrol in it. The [2017] Car is averaging 57MPG.

Our ’21 plate 1500cc petrol Tiguan averaged 29…..

  12. Yes - ULEZ in London does anyway.

I read a post on there some while back that a chap needed to take his bike to Ray Petty in SE London. Approx 25 - 30 min ride IIRC. BUT bike was not ULEZ compliant so chap had to put bike in his 2.0 diesel van (which was compliant).

Chap hit traffic and sat with engine running for c2 hrs. Non-compliant bike would have filtered and got there in said 25 mins……go figure…!

  15. Bristol & Bath zones allow any motorbike through regardless of emissions :)

  16. Are you sure it’s exempt from congestion charge in london? I thought that hateful man charges every vehicle now? It’ll be ULEZ free tho.

  17. I’ve also got the flu jab booked. I’ll never have another Covid jab

  18. Me too.......I'm convinced that the covid jab has brought on my heart problems, as I have always been fit as a butchers dog till then. And the cardiologist thought it could well have been a contributing factor.....but wouldn't say outright.

  19. Maybe/ maybe not! I didn't read too much into it, as I'll never be driving into London in it!

  20. Me three. After being rushed into hospital during the whole episode around 4 years ago, with signs of a serious heart attack, after all the tests, they just shrugged their shoulders and couldn't tell me what the issue was. One junior nurse asked if I'd had the test vaccine, and when I said yes, put his head in his hands.
