Hi all, I've a Pikes Peak V4 which comes equipped with a seat that has a section at the rear of red vinyl... after about a year or so this red part of the seat became very sticky to the touch (I don't park it. under trees etc., and the rest of the seat is unaffected) or clean it with any chemicals so can't figure out what is happening other than some sort of material break down. Cleaning with soap, alcohol etc won't remove it. Ducati replaced the seat a few months ago and now the replacement seat has yet again turned into a sticky mess. They are sending me another rear seat and have said I'm the ONLY one with this complaint (which I find hard to believe) and rather agressively stating if it happens again they won't entertain it......would love to know if anyone out there has had the same problem. It's not a huge issue but somewhat irritating that I will undoubtedly have to put some aftermarket seat cover on instead.
How bizarre, I have a V4 PP with the same seat and no issues, it’s been ridden in 30c + and also heavy rain and washed with several different bike cleaners with no issues to the seat at all. It’s kept in a garage when not in use. Do you cover it up when not in use with damp non breathable cover..? Not sure if that would effect it? Just a thought that’s all..
Never had any issue while I used mine, but must admit I nearly always just leave my heated high seat on as it's more comfy
on the east coast of Ireland but we don't get any extra corrosion etc here with the prevailing SW winds.... tis a minor thing but I was just curious as to whether anyone else's seats were degrading...
