Insurance Conundrum 748r And 999r

Discussion in 'Insurance - Sponsored by Ducati Insurance' started by RC1, Oct 2, 2025.

  1. so bennetts have quoted 231 for both the 748r and 999r but on a non classic rating so no agreed val.
anyone had any claims experience with bennetts for similar bikes with no agreed value

on agreed val basis they want 163 for the 999r and 158 for the 748r so about 320 all in

im thinking a no brainer for the peace of mind for an extra 90 quid but am i thinking about this in the right way? i guess it depends on how well me and their underwriter agree on the value of each bike?

  2. I had to make a “full loss” claim with them this year. Bike was “agreed value” and they paid it eventually.
They send Ageas (underwriter) and 4THDimension after you to check if the bike was well maintained (service invoices) and photos of garaging security arrangements.
Took a while, but I guess some people do not correctly disclose their circumstances allowing the underwriter wriggle room.
The biggest impact now is change of NCD as mine was not protected

  3. interesting thanks
other than an electric garage door with a motion sensor for the alarm both of which i have, are there other requirements when in the garage ie chained up etc? if a bike is in the house and its gets burned down in a house fire would it be covered?

  4. I asked the same questions, but got nothing useful back.
You would think as you added security the premium would fall, but this is insurance, one of the dark arts.
The reality is do everything you can to avoid a claim, it will mess up future applications and renewals.

  5. Thread moved

  6. Think you have answered your own question. Pay the £90 extra.

  7. its more nuanced. i have no idea how close or far apart my view on value will be to theirs. i might think my 748r is worth 11k and they might say 9k so then what? if the market moves within 12 months and market value moves north of the agreed value i would have been better not going for an agreed value policy

  8. If you declare a value over 10k insurers usually require an independent valuation. Below 10 they judge it based on pictures.
At least mine work that way.

  9. thats interesting. i told them i would expect values between 11 and 15 for both and they said photos and a report from me. i will need to check if i go down this route

  10. D'you mean in a garage attached to a house, or inside the house?

  11. I thought inside the house was fraught with danger of voiding the house insurance?

  12. Yeah, exactly why I asked!

  13. worth getting a competitive quote from Footman James ? I do all my classics through them including the 999r and it has guaranteed value

  14. I was not aware of this, I will have to do some checks!

  15. I would imagine that to store inside of house they would expect all fuel to be drained ,battery disconnected/removed etc ,
