999 power commander locations

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by xb12r, Sep 17, 2013.

  1. Hi,
I planning to put after the rebuild a power commander in my 999 and i am just thinking where to place. On my RC51 it was nicely placed under the rear seat but at this bike its not possible.
    Big thanks for any answers!

  2. got mine just above the battery so you can see the LEDs though the fairing when its working ie when reving the engine

  4. same here - also nice and easy access for the tuner

  5. had mine in the same place when i had one

  6. Got mine on the right side . Theres more room

  7. The best place is the bin and get a custom map on your ECU instead. My 999 went from 119 to 144BHP after a full system and custom map.

  8. simon i cant see how is an ECU custom map better than a pc3.
arent they essentially the same. with the same parameters changeable ?????
    im interested in this

possibly a useless power commander tuner ???
we have one nearby whos shite
but one down malton whos great...

  9. ECU remap is far better than PC111 , both cyls can be mapped separately on the dyno throughout the rev range , taking into account fuel air ratios, airbox volume ,when inlet and exhaust valves open, exhaust diameter .

  10. pc3 can also map cylinders Independently thro whole rev range. its down to the tuner.

it all comes down to air fuel ratio.
airbox size, exhaust diameter etc makes no material difference to how a map is done on a dyno

  11. Phil it just is ok.

  12. JHP do a nice little carbon bracket for the power commander if you like your bling.

  13. Well my 2006R went from 144 to 150 bhp with a power commander . Doubt Id get 169 with a custom map on the original ecu though. BHP figures are there to be manipulated buy the dyno man . 25bhp from a map alone is a big step.

  14. You can't do spark maps on the pc3, only fuel.
The resolution of the pc3 is less than half of the ECU. By resolution I mean the number of adjustment bands in the throttle range.

The pc3 is only ever fudging the ECU with some lag. A proper ECU map will always be superior.

  15. thanks for that.
where does these ecu maps ???

if by spark map you mean ignition map, you can. it just needs another dynojet module on the pc3's for the ignition
