To celebrate winter coming and to prepare punters for third world conditions, we have our power cut! Using my mobile. I think that I will look into acquiring another UPS. My main computer has one, but Internet router doesn't. Moore importantly that's on the same double socket as my guitar amp!
That beat my computer UPS. I only bought it to beat the 5 second cuts That we get normally. An hour and a half was too much for it. I think that I will UPS the broadband anyway.
Well, the uk winter eats bikes for a pastime...in its standard uncoated form if id have treated it like a regular bike it would be well on the way to literally dissolving underneath me - other day literally the rear seat cover has started to split (just gotten thinner over time) - so have to get one on order...
Salt indeed is not something I like to ride in, and it's also something spread on the roads here during the winter seasons. Personally, if I am caught out on salty roads, a quick rinse with the hose when home followed by a few minutes with a blow dryer (get one, essential for bike cleaning imo, I use a professional pet grooming one and it's a godsend for time saving) and have done for years. As a result, the ACF 50 protection does it's job, the water rinses the salt off and nothing 'eats' away at any of the metals.
I had thought about ACF50....plus sides....as you say, Downsides: you dont know where youve put it as its clear Once its on while appreciate you can clean your bike you kinda cant as it washes off... Cost, quite expensive... Just my preference but i prefer coating everything, once, and thats it (along with stainlesas and ti) then when i get home from work (on a bad weather night, and for the forseable days) and not have to worry about cleaning it there and then...so far its held up so far....here it is as of last week, 10 years of running it through everything the british weather can throw at it....
i like to ride all year round, i have good warm textile's and thermal layers. As we have some nice bright days through the winter getting out on the bike for a few hours lifts your spirit. If the roads are messy when i get home i always rinse the bike straight away. The worse time of year for me is autumn when all the leaves are on the road
