V4 2025 Recalls And Problems After 6months/2,500miles

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Jolley, Sep 12, 2025.

  1. Having completed 2,500ish miles since March on Road and Track, a number of issues have raised their head which I have listed below. Most are fairly irrelevant and are listed just for general interest, however two of them are slightly more concerning and I wonder if anyone here has any more information?......

    - Wobbly mirror: Yes, I know they are always wobbly, however one of mine (Left) is more wobbly. The wobbly is because the top bit screws to the arm and you cannot tighten the bolt/screw enough. I suspect the addition of a rubber/foam gasket or sealant may improve it, however it doesn't bother me enough to properly resolve and it just a bit disappointing.
    - Wing stud inserts: both @DRR117 and myself have been unable to remove a wing because the stud inserted into the wing spins in the wing meaning you cannot remove the wing. Replaced under warranty without any problem.
    - Satnav software: non-functional because Ducati didn't even have the software to make it work at time of sale. I think they sorted that at the end of May and I am waiting for the software update whilst it is in this week.
    - oil leaks: both myself and @DRR117 had oil leaks after the first service. Both originating from the oil filter cover. No idea if this was a defect or clumsy servicing, however it is at a main dealer I have been using for years without such problems. Maybe random coincidence or bad luck.
    - cush drive rubbers: @DRR117 is suffering more than myself, although checking the wheels that are off the bike I do have one already on its way out after ~2,000 miles (most of which were gentle road miles). I do not think there is a fix for this yet.
    - Rear brake failure!: There is a recall for the heat shielding to the rear brake line that was completed on mine, however I have recently had complete failure of the rear brake. Some strange noises coming out of Ducati questioning if I have adjusted the rear lever position because they issued a bulletin about how it needs to be done to avoid damaging something (not sure what). Fortunately I haven't touched mine, however it seems like there could be a fundamental problem with something around that rear brake area.... anyone know what it is?

  2. Mirrors simple remove them.. though when I saw the mirror blanks I thought the were just covers. They do actually bolt two bits of the front stay together.

    Wing studs haven’t tried that

sat nav…don’t need that but the dash is quite complex. I’ve now got the full Akra and the slick upgrade done …there’s a lot going on to navigate through …

    no oil leaks yet

Cush drives look very similar to the 999 I’ll monitor those as I’m out at mugello next week..

yeah saw the rear brake pipe is very close as std I got some of the reflective insulation and wrapped it
More clearance on the full system.

I also saw the rear brake pipe has a t piece in it for a pressure sensor up near the abs.. that might prove difficult with getting pipes made especially if you change the rear master to a more conventional one as per the spider rear sets …

  4. Also I’m going to wait for the impending R… I recon it’s fairings will be different but will fit…

  5. I actually use my mirrors on the road, so removing isn't an option. I use them, it is just disappointing they didn't sort in development.

I have just heard Ducati have given permission for the dealer to replace all of the brake lines etc. To me that suggests they accept something has likely melted, begging the question of how long until it all melts again?!... sounds like a temporary fix rather than a long term solution.

  6. I believe the rear brake pipe issue is a recall
Looking at the std exhaust cover seems to trap heat in rather than let it out..which would then heat the inner thigh ..solved one problem create another

  7. Mine has already had the recall on the rear brake line. This has happened with the recall solution in place.

  8. 700 miles in…..

The rear cushion drives are goosed on both my rear wheels, the original black one more than the new silver one. Ducati know there’s an issue with them, they are now no longer available from Ducati but no solution has been found. They are happy for you to keep using the bike with knackered Cush drives o_O

fairly sure my oil leak was sloppy service work, which they kind of accepted by replacing the oil filter cap they trashed in a single service o_O

after the debacle with the oil filter cap, I haven’t even raised the wing nut issue. Carbon wings on now anyway :upyeah:

all that aside, it’s one hell of a bike :motorcycleduc::motorcycleduc:

  9. BMW had a cush drive issue on the Gen 4 s1000rr too. I wore a set out with one track day and under 1000 miles. Their tolerance was about 2mm of movement in the sprocket iirc. I sold the bike before they found a fix. I believe that they were trying to say cush drives are a consumable item.

  10. I remember the BMW issue (though I put Dymags on mine so didn't suffer). I understand how they can be classed as consumable, however to have to replace them at less than 1,000 mile intervals is pushing it.

  11. Or start to perish after 50 track miles on a brand new wheel o_Oo_O

  12. Whilst on the subject of recalls - anyone with a V4 Panigale or Streetfighter should know about a rear axle issue:

    https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2025/RCLRPT-25V570-3457.pdf

At present, at least for my bike, there is no mention this on the Ducati app or via the website upon entering your VIN. So may be worth checking with your preferred dealer or workshop.

  13. Yes, someone else already posted that in here. Double sided on the 2025 though. Someone should probably start a separate chat.

Update on mine.... brakeline and speed sensor being replaced. I am thinking this needs a communication with Ducati because if mine already had the recall "fix" and has melted itself in a couple of thousand miles I am thinking the next failure is only a matter of time. Not really the ticking timebomb I need.....

  14. Good idea to have a thread to document issues.

Mine is about 850 miles. One track day at Mugello and the rest were road miles. Bike was faultless on circuit and I've had it apart since to fit some parts and no reported leaks. (It had it's first service at OYB back in August) I also checked the cush drive and no play there but will keep an eye on it.

The brake issue is concerning but hopefully not inherit issue with the bikes. Saying that, yesterday i fitted my Spider Rearsets and you have to ditch a small heat-shield to run them. It's surprising how close the lines and reservoir sit near the rear headers. I've wrapped what I can in heat-reflective tape. I also think removing the heat-shield maybe a benefit as it will keep air circulating rather than trapping it at lower speeds.

Wing mirrors i ditched these. I just use a bar end mirror which does the job.

The only small issue I came across is with the GPS lap timer. The lap times were spot on and compared to the Mylaps at Mugello but the top speed recorded on the bike was no more than 110MPH, while Mylaps recorded a couple of 305s KPH and looking at the cam footage the dash showed off the clock i.e after 188mph it showed - - - . I mean it's not a big deal but the inner child in me would like to see the recorded top speed.

  15. Mine was faultless at Brno and Donington and Snetterton and Bedford.

The brake thing is an inherent problem. It is already a recall and the recall doesn't seem to solve it. Mine failed again, and if you google search there are quite a few others.

I believe the laptimer issue is incorrect labelling. Whereas in all previous generations it gave you a peak speed, I believe it is now giving your lap average speed. However it is labelled as max rather than average, which is confusing.

  16. Maybe i won't be saying it is faultless in 6 months time :joy:. I did a quick Google/Reddit read and it suggests the recall relates to early build bikes? Mine is June 2025 build and I've had no recall which some posts suggest there is/was one. But that was in America. I just looked at video of where it fails, ideally located by centre of the rear wheel! o_O

Ah ok that is interesting about the GPS laptimer. I will double check that again and actually i did wonder if it was the average lap speed. I'll update you.

  17. I only found out mine had the recall (for the extra heat protection to the brakeline on the swingarm near the header) when I took it in for the recent failure. As part of working out what was happening they checked and informed me then it had already been done. This time round they added a bit more protection for good measure.....
