I have always done pump pump squeeze, let off nipple and tighten.
For a completely empty system you won't have any pressure until it starts to fill with fluid. Maybe 3-5 rounds of this.

Must be some mechanical issues then.

 

I have had some previous girlfriends tell me this.

 

If they were 'previous' maybe this isn't the best technique either?
