  1. Hi, newbie question, help needed please. 750ss 1993, okd throttle cable snapped, new cable bought, tried to fit today, my god what a faff, any advice. Can't see where the top 'close' cable should go, no nipple hole? Open cable I managed to fit without removing the airbox. Any advice welcome, thanks.

  3. Managed to replace both cables, it isxa proper faff, considering I wasvonbthe side of the road and with limited tool kit, I'm super happy. Had to remove the airbox, practically impossible to do both cables without removing it as the top close nipple would not be accessible. Anyway, all done and off we go again.

  4. well done, for the record, it is possible without removing the airbox but it does require some thought. Memory rusty, but I think I put a "curl" In the cable right next to the nipple, and also rotated and jammed the throttle wide open to aid access.

  5. I haven't done one for a long time but I remember that jamming the throttle wise open was a definite necessity.

  6. What I did notice though, and why it probably snapped in the first place is, the cable housing on full tighten, restricts the spring back of the grip. I.e if I tighten to full torque the grip doesn't spring back, instead just slowly, very slowly returns back. If I loosen the two hex bolts until just biting, the grip springs back perfectly suggesting that something is binding internally. I've also greased the living daylight out of the housing, under the tube handle and oiled the cables. Anyway, let's see how it goes, it's back on the road and ready for some getting colder riding.

  7. I now remove the "return" cable on all similar set-ups now from at least 10 years ago due to stiff cables in the winter which typically would result in throttle twistgrip sluggish/slow to return despite lubricated cables and best possible routing. It only happened when exceptionally cold but i'd had enough.

  8. I may consider going that way, not really interested in going through this malarkey if it fails again.
