I am trying (I know, very trying) to post in a more correct place. I haven't checked yet, but should of got Cater WhatEverTheyAreCalled to change the mobile phone number on my account so that I can register. My solicitor/Trustee called me and said that she has exactly the same problem. She is a solicitor and they don't trust her, so that makes me feel better that I am not being singled out! I still want to get the Yamaha MT07 Y-AMT but DVLA are still on my case. When I gave them the address of my doctors surgery, they didn't believe me and asked me to fill in the form again, but be truthful, This time, I took it round to the surgery and asked them to fill it in and stamp it. DVLA can accuse them of lying, but I can do no more. Why ask the question if you don't believe the answer? The third fing is , . . . I cannot remember. Oh yes! Microsoft Office. Although my restore worked to remember what software is installed, it couldn't reinstall anything. I think only the Windows bare outline was backed up, rather than anything useful. I was going to start using Microsoft Office 365 at about £180 per annum, but I am trying life with just free Google software. It is all very Google Chrome browser based, but I can live with that! Being free works for me!
I switched to an el eheapo Chromebook as my Dell Windows laptop died. The price difference of a Chromebook to a Windows laptop was huge . The Google "Office" equivalent programs are very, very similar and because they are free, I also prefer them!
You can buy one off copies of Microsoft office if you don’t need the whole Office 365 (most people don’t) and avoid paying a subscription. Just search Microsoft Office one off purchase, £30 here https://softmall.co.uk/product/micr...xbF8wqukbxLJcDtOJXTsLX6QNAllgCdBoC2o0QAvD_BwE
That is the one that I've heard about but just couldn't remember it! I'll carry on with Google and get that cheapo Office software above.
Microsoft is probably collecting data and using it to train their LLM AIs. FWIW, I absolutely DETEST the current version of Word. I tend to use Pages on my MacBook and then convert the documents to Word or PDF if I need to send them to someone, but sometimes someone sends me a Word document that I need to edit using our chambers Office 365 package. For starters, I object on principle to the subscription based model, which seems to be part of the "you will own nothing and be happy" WEF doctrine, no doubt intended to make everyone slaves to their monthly standing orders or else be left unable to function. I really don't like having my data anywhere other than physically on my device because what happens to it if I leave chambers or it folds? Also, when a particular solicitor I do a lot of work and where I have an Outlook email address sends me documents, it latches on to their account, which means that I need to be very careful when drafting or editing documents at a later which are nothing to do with that firm, that they aren't being saved onto their cloud. It is also (for me at least) horrible to use compared to historic versions as sometimes about half the screen is taken up with the menus and function icons, and everything seems to be in a different place each time I use it, such that the other day I simply couldn't work out how to activate track changes and so I had to add my edits in red or else I would miss a deadline.
I will hold out with just Google for time being. Everything gets saved to a Google drive anyway. I have no illusions over any privacy. It is not. As I do nothing of any worth to any other person, I bother not!
I’m not sure about that. Someone with a brain injury who has several hundred thousand pounds burning a hole in their pocket is very much of interest to a lot of people. There’s also the issue of what happens to all the documents you’ve uploaded if Google decide to stop offering the service, or you lose the password
Might be for an old version of Windows but there are lots of Student offers out there at the moment. You can probably find the right version for your windows
The money is with Cater Allen and I can barely work it! And a payment has to be approved the same day by my trustee and at the moment she can't get access to approve stuff. The money is locked up, And anyway, this is all through Google Chrome that is unconcerned with Windows versions. If the money was to be lost, I have a long list of people to blame - Chase de Vere, Cater Allen, my trustee who is a solicitor will do for starters! .
