  1. Woke up this morning to find one of our year old cats, laid out on the grass verge. Looks like was hit by a car last night :( :sob: Not a good day and although not relevant to this post, just to cap it off, got diagnosed with haemorrhoids :poop: Andy

  3. It’s one of the reasons healthcare is so expensive in the US

  4. I dont even think they give two hoots whether you have insurance or not, they're simply there to grab as much money as they can while they can and they dont give two shits where it comes from (which is ultimately your pocket anyway whether you have insurance or not).

  5. In my experience it was painfully obvious a diagnosis wouldn't be required... : unamused:

It's like the old suppository joke "well these are no good I might as well have shoved them up me arse". Ba dum tish... I'll get me coat.

  6. Much of the current situation stems from a 1999 change in the law to allow non-veterinary surgeons to own veterinary practices. This paved the way for corporate groups to significantly increase ownership with resultant market consolidation and no doubt, alignment with insurance groups. The existing regulatory framework primarily applies to individual veterinary surgeons and not the businesses they work for.

It's interesting & ironic to note that the 1999 change was driven by the Competition Act of 1998 which in itself was implemented to align with European competition law.

  7. Bout time, its unregulated and they play on people. I have had good and bad experience with vets so they aren't all bad, but sadly all the the bad ones made it feel like money over pet care as a big part of the problem

  8. Maybe I speak to soon. But today it feels like we have turned a corner with this one. He's of a nervous disposition but more fight than flight with other dogs, be too hard with him then it's flight rather than fight. Nearly two but only been off the lead once as his nose is his primary sence. The ears seem defective. I think what I'm trying to say is, he is as thick as mince. Every walk is a drama. He gets lots of walks. Big ones to. Which means lots of drama. But today, something was different. A total joy. Didnt really drag. Came when he was told. (Long lead) He didn't even try to catch and eat the deer that ran out in front of us. Fugging Good Boy.

  13. What a handsome lad (the dog!). Sounds like progress.

My little rescue changes by the week. Won’t go in the garden at night now…..but we do get lots of visits from badgers anbd I think it’s freaked her out.

Local woods, certain dogs (sight hound types) she want to kill but she's fine with most others.

    Bit of a weirdo!

  16. Well, it’s finally happened. Iggy has a habit of taking flights of stairs at a running jump and leaping from high places generally, and this afternoon he appears to have fractured or dislocated his ankle doing so. Looks like another trip to the vet. My insurers are going to think we are running some sort of scam after paying out nearly £12k less than 6 months ago. o_O
