  2. so this is still ongoing, spoke to them yesterday and they were working on the bike, just gutted now ive missed most of the summer, if i knew i would have bought a £2k run about,

i just want my bike back now, see the thing is its my perfect bike, right size engine, can wide open throttle it with out killing yourself, great noise, no stupid modern electrics, no ABS, no euro 5 cack either.

and its RED and looks the bollox.

so ive been trawling auto trader going round in circles and honestly, theres no other brand for me now.

cant make any decision until i get it back, will i have no confidence in it? will i be worried about a long trip?

id prefer to keep it, i will have spent probably £14K all in, thats the price of an almost new one, but alas worth half that if lucky, so it makes more sense to keep it and keep putting 1000s of miles on it

i might ask the guy to sell it for me, that way he's guaranteeing the work to the next buyer, id bite his hand for £7.5K

or i chop it at a dealers

and the replacement? really there is only one. a newish less that 3K panigale V2, with akropovic.

    red of course

  3. so this nightmare is ongoing, the bike is now in bits, which concerns me obviously, i believe there is a back log in parts, its been 5 months of BS now, i cant lose my rag, but crikey I've come close just got to be patient

i got so pissed off waiting i bought a temporary run about which i will get rid off as soon as the panigale comes back, as it stands its already sold on so hopefully i won't get stuck with 2 bikes for too long.

im hoping its clean, i am told that all servicing is done, belts and fork seals done so fingers crossed.

  4. Very cool runabout! Looks good and hopefully it will be a good stop gap. You will probably never want to sell it (but I am biased).

    @doggy ? Nukes???

  6. I had one of these, Monster 696 in San Francisco, total bag of bolts and one of the best bikes I ever owned, it was a tank and beyond a breeze to ride. You'll love it.

  7. its a 600, i set a budget of 2K and it came up, i was looking at other makes, considered a vfr800 and a royal enfield, but at the end of the day it had to be a v twin, its to distract me, i'm gonna ride all winter, the 899 isn't really an all year bike anyway

  8. It looks like the place that did the work have stood by their work, which is good. There are many places that don't*
Bad luck on the broken plastic gear, but as the palce you went to seem sound, get it fixed by them, then enjoy or move on, it's up to you. Like Nasher, bikes are an emotive purchase for me.

    Enjoy the Monster

    * the specialist, who set the vertical pot timing two teeth out on my mates 900ss, didn't stand behind their work.

  9. ohh yes the monster, very clattery and noisy, but get it up over 50 and i have to say im slightly smitten, tips in easy, brakes are excellent, just lacks bit of punch

i went out at 7am sunday, not a cloud in the sky, for a blast across romney marsh and it was wonderful, didn't stop smiling, got me biking mojo back. as i was riding along two swans flew by low level and landed,

  10. I know this is easy to type and what you are going through is really poor luck but in a couple of years time you will hardly remember this and you will have moved on .
Keep prodding them politely as you have , maybe dont let them know about the Monster and things will get sorted.

Well done for keeping sensible so far.

  13. so here i am nearly a year later and i am absolutely crushed now, bike less

i had to get rid of the monster, i got very little pleasure out of it, in fact the more i rode it the more i missed the 899

ordered the parts for the 899 in january, finally all turned up about 1 month ago, spoke to my guy today, he said a few weeks ago i would have it back for the may bank holiday

today he told me he had to order some coloured bearings and new con rod bolts, so obviously he hasn't even started putting the engine back together, and at this rate i can see it dragging another month or two at least/

i am soo so gutted its hard to describe.

do i just say fuckit and buy new bike?

i swore to myself years ago that i would never be with out a bike til the day i die, its been a flipping year now

anyone who has been deprived of their two wheel joy will know

  14. Stick with it. Sounds like the saga is becoming almost unbearable but hopefully it will get done soon.

Any way you can pop in and gee him up?

  15. i have tried every single form or manipulation possible

  16. And IIRC he caused the problem?

  17. FWIW: No emotion when dealing on this matter with the counterparty, just facts and no calls. Create a record of everything.Helped me a lot nailing a Ba....rd trying to sell me 1000 euro's of fake BMW injectors last month. believe it or not, Google Gemini was super helpful creating responses.

  18. Have you thought of a blackbird meantime? Absolutely brilliant bike and you'll pretty much get your money back if you buy sensibly when you flip it.
Mileage is pretty much irrelevant if it's looked after.

  19. If it's any consolation, I was hit by a car on my new bike last September. They weren't contesting liability. I was offered a replacement bike but it was £293 a day (I kid you not). I thought it immoral so I didn't take one, Nd rode the blackbird all winter. I came off that on an oil spill just at the braking point for a roundabout (the road was so slippy I slipped when I stood up), and it's all battered down one side having been pristine before.
The other company then said they weren't accepting liability. I got in touch with my insurance company. I'm apparently due a cheque shortly.
I hurt my shoulder, but when the legal company I was advised to get in touch with started asking loaded questions about lack of sleep and altered driving habits (which of course it makes you slightly wary), I declined to pursue.
The result is that I still am nowhere near getting my bike back, and my blackbird is all fairing damaged down one side.
It's still a great ride though.
I'm sure had I taken the £300 a day loan bike it would have moved much quicker.

  20. Lots of people getting stung with the bike hire costs when the other insurance company query it. The liability becomes all yours and people have been left owing thousands.
