There was a discussion thread on the concept when it was first announced. I wonder if they are only seeing it as a sports machine or have designs for a naked and/or tourer. https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/honda-v3-concept.101317/
Rumour has it Yamaha are working on an electrically powered supercharger version of the R9. I love stuff like this - market disruptive.
Just look at the video critically - it's obviously AI - silencers randomly disappear and stands appear. The commentary is artificial as well.
Maybe - maybe not? https://www.visordown.com/news/honda-v3-e-fully-revealed-first-video-teaser "The new V3 from Honda will be getting revealed on Tuesday, November 4, at 10 am CET (9 am UK time), and Visordown will be on hand to bring you all the details as we have them."
Didn't think electric superchargers spun up as many revs as mechanically connected ones? Turbo, roughly 20 times engine speed. However rumour on interweb states that Honda coming out with new CBR 400rr soon? Could both be AI bull. See what happens November 4th.
I too think the video is AI generated clickbait. But, it's coming this week, it'll be interesting to see if the AI vids accurately reflect the finished article. I'd guess Honda plan different platforms for the base bike. Looks good though, i like the single sided swinger and the trellis frame
Interesting video with detailed explanations on the chosen configuration & induction method. And for those that are interested some good animations on the engine balance, crank offsets & firing orders.
I was well aware of the Tuesday official announcement, hence my scathing remarks. The chances of it having 1980s styling are unlikely too.
The interesting thing is that when the v5 dominated in MotoGP, some thought it would be a v3 when it went to 800cc class but the rules made all of them use 4 cylinders (with directly or because the max bore size meant you couldn’t do it with less than 4, I can’t remember) they said at the time a v3 makes no sense. I guess the electronic supercharger is the game changer, but I wonder if they will run this engine without the charger in lower spec bikes in the range.
And/or still use the charger and run different software to manage the engine output to lower/different characteristics.
exactly, one engine, multiple different electronic profiles, just like the car industry have done for years
