1100 Monster. Thoughts ?

  1. Looking at a Monster in a couple of days, 2011 model and just the basic model.
Any standout thoughts on these and at 6ft1 is it a reasonably bike ?
I don’t do a lot of miles , just the odd pootle around .

  2. So, a 2011 model probably mean it’s a 1100evo. I have one of those, also a 2011 model, it’s now done 31k miles and runs like a champ. It’s been serviced regularly with belt changes and valve checks at the appropriate mileages. It’s not the smoothest of bikes but what air cooled v twin is. There are though are a few things that can be done to smooth it out a little. Good looking bike, doesn’t seemed to have aged, not the most comfy for me these days but for short Sunday morning rides it’s perfect.

  4. Got an M1100S - great bike, light, comfy, torquey, handles well.
Original brake calipers are shit as a shit thing - upgrade to 4 pad radials (999/749 etc) or even M4.
Ohlins on S model not the best but a lot better than the suspension on the base model.

  5. I've had an 1100 evo for 13 years and still enjoy riding it. Best looking monster, before or since.

  6. Had a new one, pre-evo. Loved it. No problems with brakes, either. I moved it on to get onto a 1098 SF but have good memories of the M1100.
Edit: I'm 6'2" and had no issue with ergo's.

  7. One small drawback, once in motion, any desire to pootle goes out the window :D Andy
