Thought I'd ask the wisdom of the forum. My mate had his Audi S3 nicked 1.5 weeks ago (North UK). The insurance has already paid him for it, then 3 days ago the police found the vehicle, and he was notified. Where does he stand? He was happy enough with what he received from the payout. Does he have to accept the return of the car? Could he in theory buy it back from the insurance company? Could he just keep the payout and say he does not want the car returned? Cheers.
If the insurance company has paid your friend for the stolen car, the deal is done, the car now belongs to the insurance company and the insurance company should be notified that it has been found. If he wants the car back (although it's very likely to have suffered damage & incurred recovery costs), some insurance companies would consider an offer, other companies won't. I'm surprised an insurance company paid out so quickly! Well done them!
There you go again. Tidying up the mess that's left everywhere. And I am in Beaconsfield now. I drove here I drove here and that will be the furthest that I've driven or ridden since my accident but I could do no more in a day
I rely on Google navigation. The route changes between M4, A40, and M40 by the minute. As I am here now, I worry not. Going back, I will choose but I think A40 is less miles. It matters not to me.
I did the M4 in the end, because I know it and know where all the services are. I stopped at Leigh Delamere in the end and hit the M&S for food to bring home. I thought that I would not get there and back without stopping for petrol. I did it all without a petrol stop. Although my Ford B-Max is supposed to be a gas-guzzling piece of shit, it did a 250 mile round trip, starting with the a petrol gauge on just under half, easily. I have no evidence to assert that bike reviews are crap, but car ones certainly are. And whilst on the topic, why are both car and bike reviews obsessed with using race circuits and runways? It has no relevance whatsoever with real world biking or driving. I thought Gloucestershire was bad for potholes, but Buckinghamshire is much worse. The route between the M4 and Amersham is terrible. At least here the council pretend they are doing roadworks (but do nothing) whilst on that route they don't even bother pretend. Whilst negotiating potholes, do riders really just contemplate their standing quarter times? My brother is on his second Polestar (I think he swapped the first for a Polestar 2) and he gave me a lift back to my hotel. That car really didn't like the bumps! He spends a lot of time in it talking to Google, like "Hey Google, why are these roads so shit!" Google was not much help! And the crematorium even had electric car charging points! You have to get with it! Although my eleven year-old petrol Ford has a belter range than a Polestar!
I think your car takes 10+ gallons to fill it, and with fuel consumption being 44 -54 depending how you drive, half a tank would be normal on a 250 mile trip?
So what happened? Does your pal want to buy the car back? Is the insurance willing to let him buy it?
He's decided to just walk away with the nice cheque (no buy back). He lost something like 6 grand for 8 years of motoring, which I think is pretty good tbh. He decided he doesn't want the hassle of running a nice car, plus one of his spogs is learning to drive, so needs something cheap. A result in the end.
