Gawd - it doesn't bear thinking about and must have looked like some grotesque Heronimus Bosch painting. And the smell Can you imagine being the poor b'stards who had to do the counting....
I do have a photo showing the aftermath of the first mustard gas attack in 1915 where everything was dead but thought it's not something I needed to post.
