So what have you done today..?

  1. @Ducbird, hi Viv, A&E doctor was unsure of the issue and it was too late to do bloods so got back to the hotel at 3:15am. She's feeling a bit weary with only 3 and a bit hours sleep but we have just arrived home for a 4:30 appointment at our local GP surgery. Blood pressure is a funny thing, currently not as scary as last night but still way to high :( Fingers crossed it's temporary and resolved quickly. Andy x

  3. Thx

My expectations of "working out for me" are very low. If it is Cheltenham Eye Hospital, where I was sent originally, it was "well, what are you expecting us to do?" I reply with, "I have no idea. I was just sent here by an optician"

If I was to go to the local medical centre with an ailment and the Doctor said, "Well, what are you expecting me to do? Deal with it, twat!" I would feel mightily aggrieved, but that is what I got the final time that I went to Cheltenham. Even to the extent that I was told to come back after 5hree months. I made the appointment (actually, they did) and I went back. Then it was, "Why are you back? what are you expecting us to do?" "I don't know but you told me to come back after three months, so I am back!" "We never really meant that and assumed that like most people that come to see us, You would not bother return." So after that I never bothered with it again but now Specsavers want to try again. Actually if asked, I will say that I want to go to Bristol. Cheltenham is a waste of space.

  4. Perry it seems something is very wrong.

Either the eye doctors are deliberately belligerent/ obtuse, have not explained the situation correctly, or you have misunderstood.

How well do you get along with your GP? Can you arrange to visit him/ her with the correspondence and get to the bottom of this? The GP if concerned -and they will be if you are not receiving the correct treatment- can step in to have your case reviewed and get you another referral. You can also apply for a private surgeon to see you and have an examination.

It might be a good way to spend some of your compensation? Maybe you could ask that brother of yours to come along and sort this out once and for all?

  5. Finally back from the bike show after the train journey from hell. A few thoughts: the Chinese bikes really appear to be upping their game in terms of equipment spec, but at the same time there does seem to be some degree of spoiling the ship for a ha’porth of tar about them; I can’t understand how some of the bigger manufacturers think it is acceptable to sell a 10k bike without adjustable levers; the price of bikes is getting very silly; if anyone fancies an HJC F71 carbon helmet you can get one almost half price; and if you want to avoid being fleeced by the food outlets there is a London outside where a filled naan, samosa and a drink was under £7.
